Maxine Waters diverts eyes from FBI, accuses Trump campaign of organizing Jan. 6 ‘insurrection’

U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., accused former President Trump’s campaign of organizing what she referred to as the January 6 “insurrection.”

In a Saturday appearance on CNN, Waters was asked by weekend anchor Jim Acosta about the bombshell report from Revolver News that alleged the FBI and other federal operatives were involved in the planning and participated in the U.S. Capitol riot.

Waters completely dodged the question, stating Republicans “can say whatever they want to say”.

She went on to demand a commission to investigate the incident, saying she was “told there was organizing taking place right in the Trump campaign,” despite all evidence to the contrary.

“One of the things we know is we need a commission, and they are opposing a commission to find out who all was involved,” Waters said. “Where did the money come from to send busloads of people in? Who supported them in all of this? Where was the organizing taking place?”

“I’m told there was organizing taking place right in the Trump campaign,” she added. “And so, if they are really concerned about why our Capitol was invaded and why there was an insurrection, they would support a commission to find out. But they don’t want to know because too many of them side with them and support what they have done, and they are not going to call them to task for it.”

Waters called those who invaded the Capitol that day “domestic terrorists,” and she challenged Republicans patriotism after citing her recent speech on the House floor.

They call themselves patriots, but that speech that you heard me give on the floor, I challenge their patriotism,” she told Acosta. “And I told them that they were not really patriots. And they’re the ones who claim to be more patriotic than anybody else.”

The Democratic congresswomen said she would keep challenging GOP lawmakers to approve a January 6th commission.

Her calls for a commission came after Democrats’ efforts were killed the first time around when Republican senators quashed the effort to end the filibuster of the proposal to create a commission.

Social media users took to Twitter, criticizing the congresswoman who has directly incited violence herself:
