DeSantis torches ‘lockdown lobbyist’ Dem Nikki Fried as she jumps into FL gubernatorial race

Republican Governor Ron DeSantis was asked about Democrat Nikki Fried jumping into the Florida gubernatorial race on Tuesday and claimed she’s done nothing except virtue signal and slammed her as a “lockdown lobbyist.”

He’s definitely not impressed with her qualifications: “Nikki Fried has done nothing in office. She does nothing,” DeSantis stated. “All she does is emote on social media, virtue signal to small-dollar donors in California and New York. She put her face, spent millions of dollars to put her face on every gas pump across this state, purely to boost her own image at your expense as a taxpayer.”

DeSantis blasted the Florida Agriculture Commissioner: “She’s a lockdown lobbyist. She would have had our kids locked out of school for the entire year. She would have had this business shuttered for the whole year. They would be out of business if Fried were governor.”

“All the good stuff we’ve been able to accomplish for Florida, she opposes it,” DeSantis continued. “And I’ve done more I think in my first week as governor than she’s done in her entire time as agriculture commissioner.”

Fried clapped back at DeSantis stating: “I think we struck a nerve with @GovRonDeSantis. Temper tantrums are for toddlers, not Governors.”

The progressive politician attacked the system which ostensibly includes DeSantis announcing her run on Tuesday: “I’m here to break the rigged system in Florida. It’s corrupt, it’s anti-democratic and it’s time for something new. Like many of you, I’ve been underestimated my whole life. I was underestimated when I fought corruption as a public defender. I was underestimated when I took on the big banks during the foreclosure crisis … and I was underestimated in 2018 when I said a Democrat from Miami could be elected commissioner of agriculture.”

Fried nipped at DeSantis for signing a law that bans transgender girls from competing in girls’ sports in public schools while trying to capitalize on Pride Month: “By signing a heartless ban on transgender kids in sports, @GovRonDeSantis is marginalizing an entire community. Signing it on the first day of #Pride2021 is especially cruel. Florida should stand for inclusivity, equality, and liberty — not peddling hate for political points,” she wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

“The people of our state are tired,” she proclaimed on MSNBC. “They’re tired of this type of leadership in our state that is not listening to the people. And when we take that message to the people to try something new, they’re going to buy it, because they know that the Republican Party only wants status quo and only to protect the top one percent and the corporations of our state and not listening to the people.”

“When we get that message out, people will understand that Ron’s only using them to get to the 2024 election,” Fried posited, claiming Floridians would rise up against a “corrupt system” that is “designed to keep them down.”

Fried is an attorney and a former marijuana lobbyist. She is engaged to a medical marijuana entrepreneur named Jake Bergmann. In her campaign launch video, Fried pushed legalizing cannabis.

She recently declared on Twitter that “Florida isn’t a red state,” and was mocked for it.

So far, the Democratic slate running against the wildly popular Republican governor consists of Rep. Val Demmings, Republican-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist, and Fried. Crist leads Fried allegedly by more than 30 points currently.
