“The View” co-host Meghan McCain took the high road and politely clapped back at a left-wing political strategist in a since-deleted tweet on Sunday after he insulted her physical appearance and mentioned her late father, former Navy pilot, Vietnam POW and Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
“So @MeghanMcCain Trump-tweeting from the Caesars buffet line about Memorial Day as @KamalaHarris literally lays a wreath on Senator McCain’s grave has to be one of the great self owns in the history of this hellsite, right?” Tom Watson wrote on Twitter.

In the deleted tweet, which was first captured by Twitchy, McCain replied:
1. I am not in Las Vegas nor was in Las Vegas.
2. I would be in a buffet line because I’m so fat, I get it. Hilarious.
3. I’ll be at Arlington cemetery tomorrow with my sister in law @ehdomenech and my daughter to lay flags on the graves of my grandmother and grandfather.
Watson responded with a sort of non-apology:
I apologize for my inartful jibe. I intended no comment on your appearance (my own being no prize, and it’s not right in any case). Will you apologize to the @VP at Annapolis?

McCain’s grandfather, John Sidney “Jack” McCain Jr., rose to the rank of four-star admiral in the Navy. At the time her father, a Navy pilot, was captured after he was shot down over Vietnam, the elder McCain was head of U.S. Pacific Command. Sen. McCain would go on to spend nearly six years in North Vietnamese captivity, enduring harsh, frequently brutal treatment.
Following Meghan McCain’s tweet, leftist actress Rosanna Arquette stepped in to offer an insult of her own while also referencing her father, who died of brain cancer in August 2018 at the age of 81.
“MVP Kamala Harris visited your fathers [sic] grave today to honor him. he would be disgusted by your crap,” she wrote.
Both tweets drew no small amount of criticism and indignation.
“Imagine being an adult man who would tweet this obviously untruthful & just mean spirited tweet,” Alyssa Farah, former Vice President Mike Pence’s spokeswoman, tweeted in response to Watson’s insult.

“Seems like you should delete this flat-out lie,” added GOP communications specialist Matt Whitlock added.

Much of the derision, however, was aimed at Arquette.

I am disgusted by your tweet, rosanna.

Holy Rosanna, I think you need to check yourself. I actually like both you and Megan (it’s possible to like two very different people) and enjoy following you both, but that’s really low and mean.
— Tricia Schmidt (@tricia_checco) May 31, 2021
Sorry, not a good thing to do. That’s her dad.

Come on. While we may not see eye-to-eye with Ms. McCain on much politically, let’s show some respect to the McCain family, especially over Memorial Day weekend.
— Craig Rozniecki (@CraigRozniecki) May 31, 2021
Rosanna. I remember you. Didn’t you used to have a career?

Harris was called out over the weekend for posting what many felt was a tone-deaf tweet in which she said she hoped everyone enjoyed their “long weekend” — without making any reference to the Memorial Day observance and the purpose behind it.
The vice president made amends on Sunday after taking a lot of heat, writing on Twitter, “Throughout our history our service men and women have risked everything to defend our freedoms and our country. As we prepare to honor them on Memorial Day, we remember their service and their sacrifice.”
