Senator John N. Kennedy (R-LA) blasted Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer’s “Endless Frontiers Act” for being a bloated, pork-filled “orgy of spending porn” that some Republicans have “swapped brains with the Democrats” in support of.
The act is allegedly being misrepresented as a piece of legislation that would ostensibly help the U.S. even the competitive playing field with China in the manufacturing and technology arenas.
Schumer sponsored the bill which would reportedly establish a directorate at the National Science Foundation (NSF) for “technology and innovation.” It would also include other directives.
Kennedy appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show Monday and flatly stated it was a hugely wasteful $130-billion-and-counting boondoggle. He started off by telling Carlson: “Well, let me apologize in advance for any mean, ugly, accurate things I’m about to say.” Then he tore into the act. Kennedy held up a massively tall stack of paperwork that represents the atrocious bill that basically embodies pet projects and a glut of spending that should make any politician blush with shame.

Worse yet, of the 13 co-sponsors who have signed on to this piece of political gluttony, approximately half are Republicans, including Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Mitt Romney of Utah, Susan Collins of Maine, and Steve Daines of Montana. Kennedy called the piece of legislation an “orgy of spending porn.” He painted Schumer as an excited child who wanted as many additional directives added as possible to ensure the bill passes.
“It started out at $40 billion, the budget office tells me it is up to $200 billion and growing like Kudzu and it’s probably going to pass because — I say this gently — some of my Republican colleagues have swapped brains with the Democrats and are going to vote for it,” Kennedy remarked. “Senator Schumer is ecstatic and running around like a 5-year-old in a Batman costume.”
Kennedy told Carlson that the bill included billions in foreign aid which has nothing to do with the premise of the legislation since it should be about strengthening American competitiveness, not our enemies’: “I don’t know why we have to give money to countries that hate us, they should be able to hate us for free,” snarked Kennedy.
“$50 billion [goes] to the Big Tech semiconductor companies. We all know how broke Big Tech is, I guess they can use the money to develop more efficient algorithms to censor us. $80 billion to the infamous National Science Foundation [which] spent $500,000 in taxpayer money studying how long it takes pandas to poop,” he noted and then added for clarification that it took twelve minutes and the pandas need more fiber.
“I say it is an orgy of spending. I’m not saying every penny is wasteful, I’m saying an enormous amount is wasteful and here … President Biden is talking about raising taxes for infrastructure, why can’t we use some of this money to pay for infrastructure? That’s all I’m saying. Everybody in Washington is for ‘fiscal responsibility,'” commented the senator. “They want to cut spending, but everybody in Washington – it’s like going to heaven, they want to go to heaven but they don’t want to take the trip.”
