In what seems like a positive sign that members of the left are slowly starting to wake up, left-wing former Obama era CIA director John Brennan not only admitted in an interview last week that Antifa extremists are “dangerous” but also took a shot at the “far left” members of Congress who’re stoking left-wing extremism.

He offered the surprisingly correct assessments during a virtual discussion last Thursday with Juliette Kayyem, a professor at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a CNN security analyst and a former fellow Obama administration official.

The assessments were prompted by Kayyem asking him if he’s concerned at all about left-wing radicalization.

“How should not just America but the world be thinking about left-wing politicians and left-wing radicalization? We know that here in the United States, the FBI is mostly concerned with right-wing, just given what we’ve seen. … You focus [on] a lot of threats regarding right-wing politicians. Do you see the left engaging in similar dangerous rhetoric?” she asked.

Remarkably, Brennan said that he does.

Watch from the 42:25 mark below:

“I am concerned about some of this rhetoric that’s coming from the left. Again, I think ideologues on both ends of the political spectrum are dangerous, and there are individuals on the left who are engaging in vigilantism themselves that fall under this broad rubric of Antifa, anti-fascist elements,” he said.

“But I do think that ideologues are just blind to reality, and they do not look for ways to allow people from across that political spectrum to live peacefully together.”

These may have very well been the most honest remarks Brennan, a known liar, has ever made. But he wasn’t done.

“So I am concerned that [some people], including some politicians in Congress who are far left, are just, I think, almost stoking some of these concerns that people have that America is sliding into a socialist state,” he said.

“I don’t believe it is, but I think the rhetoric and the words that politicians use need to be very carefully crafted, because some of the statements that are made tends to provoke counter-attacks from the other side, and that again just separates us into left and right wing in this country.”

It’s very rare to hear someone on the left speak so honestly about left-wing extremism. It’s particularly shocking to hear Brennan, of all people, be the oracle of truth.

Left-wing extremism is a problem — a major one that usually receives barely any attention from mainstream figures and, when it is covered, is invariably downplayed.

As far as some congressional Democrats and some members of the mainstream press are concerned, Antifa is just an “idea” and “myth” versus something real.

Even FBI Director Christopher Wray, known for his focus on the alleged threat of white supremacy, has admitted that Antifa is indeed 100 percent real.

“We consider Antifa to be more of a movement. … There are certainly local and regional nodes, individuals who self-identify with Antifa, who commit violent attacks citing that as their motivation, and we have a number of predicated investigations into such individuals. Antifa is a real thing; it’s not a fiction, and it’s a concern,” he testified before Congress last month.

“So, we take anarchist violent extremism, much of which associates with the Antifa movement, very seriously. … It is something that we investigate very aggressively, and in fact, the number of investigations in that space is something that’s dramatically increased on my watch over the last few years. And I think last year, we had more arrests in the anarchic violent extremism space than in the prior three years combined.”

He of course forgot to mention that, in the last year, the Department of Justice also dropped charges against left-wing extremists more times “than in the prior three years combined.”

“The Justice Department are dropping 58 of the 97 criminal charges brought after the Portland riots, including assaults on officers. … One of those defendants who saw their charges dropped in Portland was David Bouchard who admitted that he put a Customs and Border Protection officer in a chokehold,” legal scholar Jonathan Turley reported earlier this month.

“Likewise, the Justice Department dismissed the charge against Charles Comfort who was indicted by a grand jury of civil disorder for twice charging at Portland Police Bureau officers and hitting them with a makeshift shield and kicking a third officer.”

This is part of the problem. While there’s clearly growing recognition of left-wing extremism, which is surely a positive, there still appears to be an inexplicable desire to treat left-wing extremists with kid gloves — all as right-wing extremists are literally beaten by the authorities and denied their cancer treatments
