Portland rings in New Year with riots, arson, attacks on police and rants about ‘colonizers’

America’s most left-wing city, Portland, rang in the new year by rioting, setting fires, vandalizing businesses, attacking the police with fireworks and ranting about “colonizers.”

Sounds about left …

According to local reports, so-called “protesters” — “peaceful” ones, no doubt — gathered near the Portland Police Bureau headquarters in downtown Portland around 9:00 pm and proceeded to march through the streets and break windows.

“The group then … began shooting off fireworks. By 10:15 p.m, bottles were littered around the entrance to PPB, plus graffiti on the doors and on several other buildings as well. The group banged on crosswalk signs on SW 3rd Avenue,” station KOIN reported.

“About 10 minutes later they began shooting fireworks at the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse building. A crosswalk sign appeared to be one of several fires spotted around 10:40 p.m. as people banged on the Justice Center.”

A riot was declared soon after and local authorities “advanced on the protesters,” at which point the “protesters” began shooting fireworks at them.

The riot was organized on Twitter by the PNW Youth Liberation Front, a left-wing extremist group that promoted the event as being “In Solidarity with BLM.”

It’s not clear why neither Twitter nor the establishment press — both of which incessantly take action against alleged right-wing extremists — apparently has no problem with left-wing extremists using Twitter to organize violent riots.

According to KOIN, New Year’s Eve marked the second night of rioting in Portland.

“Nearly a dozen businesses were vandalized in downtown Portland overnight, according to the Portland police,” the station reported Thursday morning.

“Around 7 p.m., a group of about 40 people marched out of Director Park and through various streets, damaging businesses along the way. Among the damage were broken windows, spray-painted buildings, paintballs being fired and more. The Portland Police Bureau said officers attempted to contact one subject but their police vehicle was then spray-painted.”

In a press release, the Portland Police Bureau identified the businesses and buildings that were damaged by the left-wing extremists:

  • The Oregon Historical Society
  • Portland Police Bureau
  • Tri-met
  • Pac West Center
  • Starbucks Coffee 1300 SW 3rd Ave
  • Directors Park facilities (Portland Parks and Recreation)
  • The University Club
  • The Old Courthouse
  • Fogo De Chao Restaurant
  • Portland City Hall
  • First Republic Bank

A Starbucks was also trashed on New Year’s Eve.

“No arrests were made” during the riot, according to the PPB, but “the criminal mischief reports are being collected and the investigation is continuing.”

But knowing how Portland’s left-wing leaders and prosecutors act in the face of left-wing extremism, the investigation will lead to no convictions whatsoever.

After the devastating George Floyd riots of early summer, left-wing Multnomah District Attorney Mike Schmidt reportedly dropped charges against 70 percent of apprehended rioters. Meanwhile, crime predictably skyrocketed in the far-left city.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, a far-left zealot who’s been quick to react to peaceful protests by the Proud Boys but mostly mum about the violent riots of left-wing extremists, has been completely silent about this week’s protests.

However, he has taken time to lecture his constituents about the coronavirus:

But like virtually every other Democrat in America, Wheeler is also a covid hypocrite.
