A disturbing video shared on social media depicts a knife-wielding man chasing another man in downtown Portland, Ore., in broad daylight.
The potential victim may have avoided a stabbing because the alleged attacker had to slow down to keep his pants up.
The man being chased appeared to be talking on a cell phone on a corner near another potential altercation when he was confronted and chased by the man brandishing the large knife who also sounded like he was repeatedly spewing a racial slur.
The potential victim was fortunately able to get into a car and drive away, but not before the attacker appeared to be trying to smash the passenger-side window with the weapon. It’s unclear at this point what precipitated the incident.
According to tireless journalist Andy Ngo, who shared the now-viral video on several platforms, the incident took place near Portland’s Justice Center and main police station. Cops, however, reportedly didn’t respond to the scene.
Watch:
For more than a year, far-left anarchy and rising crime have destroyed sections of the once-beautiful city of Portland, where homelessness is also now on the rise (a tent is visible in the above video).
Shortly after the city’s Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler recently vowed to take back the city, for example, a peaceful protest reportedly turned into an outright riot on May Day, the first day of this month.
A recent poll commissioned by The Oregonian news outlet revealed that since the COVID-19 outbreak, locals are less likely to venture downtown out of concerns that the area is unsafe and dirty, with the homelessness issue exacerbating the situation.
Tourism, accordingly, has likely been adversely affected. The overall business climate for companies located downtown is also an issue.

The footage posted by Andy Ngo prompted a huge response on Twitter. Here is a sampling:
Yes, but it was a mostly peaceful pursuit.

This isn’t a rare occurrence. This is the new downtown Portland. I live and work here and I don’t feel safe even in the day. The police aren’t around and they’re not going to show up if you need them.

I’m an Oregonian. I frequently visit Portland due to medical appointments at the VA. The amount of violence is absolutely mind blowing. I get cussed out for having DV plates (disabled veteran). If someone runs at with a knife, I will be putting my CHL to use.

I really cannot blame the police at all for not showing up. Whatever would go down if they showed up, they would be blamed for it in a negative fashion.

Why would people want to live In that mini war zone???

Looks like police may be told to stand down in progressive dem areas (plus defunding police and early retirements). Very dangerous.

Portland is an asylum without locks.

Look at him trying to hold his pants while chasing a bystander with a deadly weapon. Don’t want have a wardrobe malfunction when trying to murder someone in broad daylight, and in full view of a hundred people. Might want to consider suspenders.

Why would they. The public has been quite vocal that they want to defund them, they loath them etc. So…. figure it out on your own.

Has Portland just pretty much given up on ever being civilized again… or???
— Charles, the Flying Snep (@Shurtugal_Snep) May 17, 2021
Why should the @PortlandPolice respond? everyone in Portland wants to defund the police…but then they call the police when the shit hits the fan on them?.?.?.
