Crenshaw clashes with Chuck Todd over anti-Trump agenda: Not taking ‘bait’ from ‘pro-Democrat’ press

If a back and forth between U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Tex.) and NBC’s Chuck Todd is any indication, the corporate media is still obsessed with  cancelling President Donald Trump, especially as he continues to question the outcome of Election 2020.

The Texas lawmaker and former Navy SEAL rejected the simplistic thinking that is popular in the Beltway echo chamber, telling Todd that he won’t take the bait from the liberal journalism industry which is seemingly incapable of moving on from Trump, because “you guys in the press love doing this.”

Crenshaw’s Houston-area constituents have more pressing concerns than Trump’s election complaints or about impeachment supporter Liz Cheney, the media’s newly minted political martyr, getting booted from the U.S. House GOP leadership.

Describing himself as rational, Crenshaw (who is sometimes RINO and sometimes MAGA) explained that “My Republican supporters do not ask me about Trump; they don’t ask me what he said; they’re not riled up about it,” he asserted on Meet the Press.

Instead, Crenshaw continued, they ask, “What are we doing about over a quarter of a million illegal crossings at our border in the last two months…how is that sustainable?”

He went on to say that his constituents are also worried about inflation depleting their savings as a result of Washington’s out-of-control spending spree.

He added that small businesses can’t staff up because the feds are paying workers more to stay home and sit on the couch. “We said this would happen, and now our economy isn’t recovering. What do you think about the jobs report recently?”

Describing President Trump as one of the leaders of the GOP, Crenshaw added that “if former President Trump asked me, I would say ‘Mr. President, please keep talking about the border. Please keep talking about these issues.'”

Upon being asked by the hot-under-the-collar Meet the Press host if Donald Trump is the “legitimate” leader of the Republican Party, Crenshaw  responded as follows:

“Hold on, I believe that you’re not going to ex-communicate a former president, right? And I refuse to go into the sort of black and white thinking about it’s either totally one thing or totally the other. These are complex human relationships that involve millions of people. And I have always said, look, I do not think Trump is the devil, and I won’t say that. I don’t think he’s Jesus either. You know. I’m a rational human being about this.”

“And I’m going to agree where I agree, and I’m gonna disagree where I disagree, and I refuse to allow this this drama to engulf us…And I says this to Liz [Cheney] and [Adam] Kinzinger,’ you’re not going to get the colleagues, who believe in that stuff to apologize to you, to agree with you.’

“I stand by everything I’ve ever said and done, and that’s all I can speak for. And I speak for my constituents who care about those issues that I’ve told you about, and I think those are the issues we should be debating on this program.”

The corporate media has taken the position that there was  no “widespread” fraud in the presidential election and that any further discussion is off limits.

The media is also inordinately preoccupied with Never Trumper Liz Cheney being fired from the House leadership. Never Trump in the form of individuals like Cheney, Rep. Kinzinger, or Sen. Romney, has virtually no constituency other than in TV news studios, however.

Common sense suggests that the subtext here is that the media and the Democrats are very concerned that Trump, who won nearly 75 million votes in 2020, will seek the presidency in 2024.
