Thursday on “The Five,” Fox News co-host Dagan McDowell hilariously tore into the media for their fawning over White House press secretary Jen Psaki who has just announced she may be stepping down next year.
McDowell just couldn’t get over how obsessed the press is with Psaki and she didn’t hold back.
“After all that gushing and fawning from those reporters, what do we get to see next? Them cleaning out her refrigerator for her? Or maybe waxing her legs in public. That’s next. They’re going to have to change their job titles to ‘professional footstool,'” she said.
Her disgust with the mainstream media was echoed more softly by the other hosts. At issue is how the media is treating Psaki versus press secretaries who worked under former President Donald Trump. The difference in attitude by the press is glaring.
Jesse Watters laughed at McDowell’s harsh assessment of the press and stated that Fox News would not be partaking in the media’s worship of Psaki: “I don’t think Peter Doocy’s going to be waxing Jen’s legs. Do you, Juan?” He also accused the media of “gushing” over Psaki and quoted the overwhelming admiration of reporters who have dealt with her.

All of this followed in the wake of the announcement of Psaki’s departure, which was discussed during an hour-long interview with former Obama administration official, David Axelrod.
During remarks on the podcast, “The Axe Files with David Axelrod,” Psaki referred to the transition from the Trump administration to Biden’s as the “Game of Thrones” period that “we’re still in recovery from.”
“I think it’s going to be time for somebody else to have this job, in a year from now or about a year from now,” she said.

“Being a press spokesman for a Democrat,” snarked Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, “is a really, really easy job because every time, you’re on the home-field advantage, right? You’re dealing with a media whose toughest question will be, ‘What’s your recipe for brownies?’”
Colleague Dana Perino, the former White House press secretary under President George W. Bush, pointed out that companies which are seeking a communications person should hire someone with a background in Republican politics “because I guarantee you they have worked so much harder and they’ve seen it all.” Her comment was in reference to the kid-glove handling of Psaki in comparison to how the press attacked press secretaries during the Trump administration. Gutfeld thought that was a very valid point.
“The Five” segment was in response to a perfect example of over-the-top media bias written by the Washingtonian entitled: “The Awkward Feeling of Rooting for the White House Press Secretary” where the media outlet went on to cringingly state that: “Half of America is smitten with Jen Psaki, while a swath of the White House press corps sounds quite taken with how polite she is.”
The devotional to Jen Psaki was almost 2,200 words long.

“In her first three months on the job, White House press secretary Jen Psaki has yet to be caught in an unhinged lie or spontaneous infomercial, and she does not refer to the reporters who sit before her in the briefing room each day as ‘the enemy of the people.’ The bar set by the Trump White House might be on the floor but, hey, so far she’s cleared it,” the Washingtonian remarked.
The article continued:
“Still, it would be a disservice to compare her solely to her predecessors (in order of appearance: Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, Kayleigh McEnany), both to Psaki, who is “one of the most well-qualified press secretaries we’ve ever had,” proclaimed correspondent Jon Karl, “and to the rest of us, who deserve to expect more from our public servants than “well, it could be worse,” and who—perhaps—are too easily wooed by what one could describe as little more than competence porn.”
“She takes questions from everybody,” claimed Karl. “She doesn’t get rattled. She doesn’t lose her cool.”
“She’s a pro, you know?” cooed Peter Baker, who is the chief White House correspondent for the New York Times. “She’s unflappable.”
