The White House’s top coronavirus “expert,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, is facing growing resistance from the public over his desire to keep children perpetually masked.

The latest burst of anger against the embattled U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director came Wednesday when he told NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie that children should wear a mask even when outdoors.

During a discussion on NBC News’ Today, Guthrie specifically asked him why she’s allowed to be outside without a mask but her young daughter isn’t.

“I walked to pick up my little girl at the bus stop yesterday after the CDC recommendations came out. I took off my mask. I waited for her. There was no one else around. She got off the bus with her little mask. She had to wear her mask, I didn’t on the walk home,” she said.

“When are kids going to be able to take off those masks and play outside at the playground?” she then asked.

Fauci responded by saying that they must continue to wear a mask even when outdoors up until they’re vaccinated sometime in the fall or later.

Listen:

“Children of any age will likely be vaccinated by the time we get to the end of the year, but let’s not talk about the end of the year. Let’s talk about the immediate or intermediate future, when children are out in the community, when you have 30/40/50,000 new infections per day,” he said.

“They are unvaccinated now because children can’t get vaccinated now, and for that reason they are more at risk of getting infected because they are out in the community where there is a lot of infection. When the community level starts to go way down, the risks to everybody, including the children, is going to be dramatically diminished,” he added.

The latest guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated “people” may be outside with members of their household without a mask. Guthrie received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on April 7th, as reported by People magazine.

Guthrie wasn’t satisfied with Fauci’s answer.

“But isn’t it a weird situation, because I’m not fully vaccinated, yet I can take off my mask and walk home [but] she can’t. Like, doesn’t that just point out that the CDC guidelines, there’s some kind of disconnect?” she asked.

Fauci completely ignored the question.

“You’re asking, if your child is a member of your household, can you walk outdoors with your child without a mask? … The answer is yes,” he said.

“But the child can’t?” Guthrie then asked.

“Yes, yes,” Fauci said.

The answer provoked an outpouring of backlash, as well as accusations that Fauci is an “anti-science, “anti-child,” “evil” “child abuser” who “hates children.”

Fauci is also a notorious flip-flopper.

As noted in the final tweet above by Karol Markowicz of the New York Post, it was only days earlier that Fauci had told CNN’s Jim Acosta that “the risk” for unvaccinated Americans when outdoors is “extremely low.”

“[B]ecause obviously a lot of people are going to be spending a lot of time more outdoors now because the weather is getting really nice — beautiful spring weather — you’re going to be seeing people wanted to do things outdoors without masks. And it’s common sense to know that the risk when you are outdoors, which we have been saying all along, is extremely low. And if you are vaccinated, it’s even lower,” he’d said.

But what happened to “common sense”?

Listen:

Fauci is the same bureaucrat who in February of 2020 claimed that the risk of the coronavirus becoming a problem in the U.S. was “just minuscule,” which is to say that he has a track record for changing his position on an issue at a moment’s whim.

His most famous flip-flop occurred when he told Americans to not wear a mask. Yet only a month or so later, he turned into one of the country’s most notorious mask Karens.

Dovetailing back to his remarks to Guthrie, there was another problem as well, namely the fact that the CDC’s guidelines don’t say anything about children having to wear a mask when outdoors among family members.

Whoops …
