An Idaho police officer who mocked NBA star LeBron James over the weekend for having made a fuss over a police shooting involving a suspect who’d been about to stab someone to death has allegedly been suspended and may now be under investigation.

Earlier this week, Deputy Nate Silvester with the Bellevue Marshal’s Office uploaded a parody video to his TikTok account that showed him calling James for consultation before intervening in an imaginary attempted stabbing occurring outside his cruiser.

According to The Idaho Mountain Express, a local newspaper based out of Hailey, after the video went viral, one  unnamed citizen who watched it filed a complaint against Silvester with the Marshal’s Office on Monday.

The office responded by reportedly launching an investigation and also allegedly suspending him. Bellevue Mayor Ned Burns confirmed to the Mountain Express only that Bellevue Marshal Mynde Heil “will be handling the situation” going forward.

The video begins with Silvester in his police cruiser pretending to be speaking with dispatch.

“Dispatch, I’ve arrived at that disturbance. Would you have LeBron call me at my cell phone right away please? Thank you,” he says.

He then directs his attention to the people outside his cruiser.

“Excuse me, sir. Excuse me. Can you put that knife down please, sir. No, no, don’t stab him. Stop stabbing him. Hold on. It’s LeBron,” he says.

Silvester then picks up his phone to speak with James.

“LeBron, hey, yeah, it’s me again. Yeah, I’m out here at this disturbance call, and there’s a guy trying to stab another guy with a knife,” he says.

Silvester then goes quiet for a second as James speaks to him.

“Why does that matter? Well, they’re both black. One guy is trying to stab another guy with a knife. Deadly force is completely justified,” he continues a moment later.

After another brief silence, Silvester continues speaking.

“Uh huh … I see. So you don’t care if a black person kills another black person, but you do care if a white cop kills a black person even if he’s doing it to save the life of another black person. I mean, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but then again, you are really good at basketball, so I guess I’ll take your word for it,” he says.

He then concludes the call.

“Alright, yep, OK, thanks LeBron. Michael Jordan is the GOAT. What? Nothing. I gotta go,” he says.

The clip concludes with him driving off as he tells the people outside his cruiser, “Sorry guys, you’re on your own. Good luck!”

Silvester’s video was posted in response to James making a fuss over the death of Ma’Khia Bryant, a 16-year-old black Ohio teen who was fatally shot by police on April 20th while allegedly trying to stab another black girl.

The shooting initially provoked outrage, particularly from liberal Democrats like James, who expressed his own outrage by posting a screenshot of the shooting officer and captioning it with the threatening words “you’re next.”

His tweet provoked so much backlash that he eventually deleted it and tried to excuse his incendiary remarks with an additional tweet in which he claimed he was just “so damn tired of seeing Black people killed by police.”

But, as noted by a large number of critics including even World Star Hip Hop viewers, had the officer involved in Bryant’s death not opened fire, the girl she’d allegedly been about to stab would have likely ended up dead. It appears this was the point that Silvester had been trying to convey with his cheeky video. But it seems to be a point that the Bellevue Marshal’s Office didn’t appreciate.

In a Facebook post published Tuesday, the office threw Silvester under a bus, saying, “The statements made [by him] do NOT represent the Bellevue Marshal’s Office.”

It’s not clear if this means they support the notion that the shooting officer should have done nothing and instead let Bryant stab and potentially kill the other black girl.

“The Bellevue Marshal’s Office always demands that our Deputies engage with our citizens in a friendly and professional manner. This is NOT how we expect our Deputies to act on duty or use city time. This is a personnel issue that is being dealt with internally,” the office added.

Silvester’s best friend, Gannon Ward, has since launched a GoFundMe to raise money for his pal, whom he claims has been suspended without pay.

“Hi, my name is Gannon. The recent viral TikTok video of a cop calling out Lebron James has cost the cop, my best friend in the world, Officer Nate Silvester a suspension without pay. He’s still got his job for now, but apparently the town where he polices didn’t find his TikTok as amazingly comical, and accurate as the 4.5 million viewers did, including some major news networks,” the GoFundMe read.

“The future is uncertain. I just don’t want to see my friend lose out on any money for this, when it was meant to be satirical, and to point out an obvious flaw in Lebron’s logic. Please donate what you can contribute. Every dollar helps! Thanks!!” it continued.
