Dems attacking cop who shot 16-yr-old in process of stabbing leaves questions about mental health of leaders

Democrats were quick to denounce the police officer who shot 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday even though bodycam footage shows that he was attempting to stop her from stabbing another girl to death.

Police were summoned to the scene of a violent altercation around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday after a report that someone was trying to stab others at a home. Bryant tackled another teenager with what appeared to be a knife in her hand. She then charged another girl against a car raising the knife as she advanced, at which time Officer Nicholas Reardon discharged his firearm four times, fatally hitting the girl. This followed multiple warnings by the officer.

On Tuesday evening, Bryant’s family accused Reardon of shooting their daughter without provocation or justification. Following that, numerous prominent liberals took to social media to condemn the officer even though footage shows exactly what happened during the attack. According to Franklin County Children Services, Bryant was a foster child.

The focus appeared to be entirely on the officer shooting Bryant and little to no concern was shown for the girl who was almost stabbed to death in front of Reardon.

The national American Civil Liberties Union tweeted, “We’ll say it again — a system that kills children with impunity cannot be reformed.”

The White House response was also accusatory. Rather than acknowledging that the officer-involved shooting was in any way justified, the White House’s statement referred to the incident as an example of “police violence” that “disproportionately impacts black and Latino people and communities[.]”

Nowhere in that statement was the mention of the officer saving the other teenager’s life.

Black Lives Matter co-founder Bree Newsome tweeted on the incident that it was just a knife fight: “Teenagers have been having fights including fights involving knives for eons. We do not need police to address these situations by showing up to the scene & using a weapon against one of the teenagers. Y’all need help. I mean that sincerely.”

She then stated: “Everyone should be frightened that the ruling white elite have done such a thoroughly successful job of not only disconnecting us from the means of basic self-sufficiency but also convincing us we need armed white officers to manage our children & communities. Frightening.”

Other Democrats piled on as well including Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH). “While the verdict was being read in the Derek Chauvin trial, Columbus police shot and killed a sixteen-year-old girl. Her name was Ma’Khia Bryant. She should be alive right now,” Brown tweeted on Wednesday.

Former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett also entered the melee: “A Black teenage girl named Ma’Khia Bryant was killed because a police officer immediately decided to shoot her multiple times in order to break up a knife fight. Demand accountability. Fight for justice. #BlackLivesMatter.” She followed up with another tweet: “Just because an officer can use deadly force does not mean the officer should. Let’s spend more time responsibly training them to de-escalate violent situations, and if force is required, use the minimum force necessary.”

“Black girls deserve girlhood — uninterrupted. Black girls deserve to grow up and become women,” Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) wrote on Twitter.

George Floyd’s family’s attorney Ben Crump also referred to Bryant as “unarmed” in a tweet: “As we breathed a collective sigh of relief today, a community in Columbus felt the sting of another police shooting as @ColumbusPolice killed an unarmed 15 [year old] Black girl named Makiyah Bryant. Another child lost! Another hashtag.”

NBC News allegedly edited out a portion of the 911 call in the incident. Nicholas Fondacaro of Newsbusters reported that: “In their report on the officer-involved shooting in Columbus, Ohio, NBC Nightly News deceptively edited the 911 call to leave out the part where the caller says a girl was “trying to stab us.” They also don’t show viewers the knife in the attacker’s hand just before the shots.”

There were a few cases where those on the left walked back their comments. The Washington Post’s Radley Balko retracted his initial comments concerning the incident and then apologized for not waiting until he had more facts.

CNN’s Don Lemon stated on “CNN Tonight” Wednesday that “we need to be honest” and “acknowledge that police have jobs to do.”

“People are anguished watching another video like this. And I get it. But even in our anguish, we cannot abandon the responsibility we have to be fair. And even while our hearts are hurting, we have to judge each incident based on what we see and the facts we know,” Lemon remarked.

Squad member Rep. Cori Bush also portrayed Bryant as a “baby” shot and killed by police:
