Brooklyn Center sets 11 pm curfew ahead of seventh night of protests

The city of Brooklyn Center, Minn., has imposed an 11 p.m. curfew Saturday as it gears up for a possible seventh night of protests over the death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright, a Black man who was shot by police.

The city announced the curfew on Facebook, and it is expected to remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Sunday. The curfew is slated to last until the next morning at 6 a.m.

Friday marked the sixth straight night of protests following Wright’s shooting by former Brooklyn Center Police officer Kim Potter.

Potter allegedly shot Wright during a traffic stop. Authorities later claimed that she meant to reach for her Taser, but grabbed her gun instead.

Shortly after the incident, Potter resigned from her post at the police department.
