Chris Cuomo trips all over himself in desperate attempt to mask-shame Sen. Ted Cruz

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has bluntly stated that he will no longer wear a mask in the Senate because has been vaccinated against COVID-19. CNN’s Chris Cuomo attempted to shame him for it and epically failed at it.

Cruz is not the only Republican foregoing mask coverings in the Capitol. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KY) have also refused to wear a mask. The House has mandated that members wear a mask but there is no such requirement in the Senate.

“At this point, I’ve been vaccinated. Everybody working in the Senate has been vaccinated,” Cruz commented to CNN.

Cuomo came unglued over the proclamation.

“Cruz explains, ‘At this point, I’ve been vaccinated. Everybody working in the Senate has been vaccinated.’ No, not your staff, not a lot of people in the media, they haven’t gotten it!” Cuomo heatedly exclaimed.

“And the current CDC guidelines state very clearly that if you’ve been vaccinated, you gotta still keep taking precautions like wearing a mask. You can still get sick- you won’t be as sick, but you can give it to somebody else. So he’s not just wrong, he’s doing it for the wrong reason,” he added.

Some saw Cuomo’s feigned outrage as hypocritical. Fox News’ Tucker Carlson has previously reported that Cuomo was slammed by his apartment building’s management because he was not wearing a mask.

The New York Post has also reported that the CNN host was seen “hobnobbing without a mask” at a “downtown private members club.”

“He was not social distancing and was walking around indoors, shaking hands and greeting people without a mask. He was just hanging with Brooke Shields’ husband. It’s a double standard when his brother is attacking the restaurant industry and implementing all these senseless rules,” a source said.

Cuomo has also been mocked for going onto another property in the Hamptons while he was recovering from the virus last year. He would later suddenly reemerge from his basement in a staged event after claiming he was in quarantine.

Cruz nailed Cuomo for the failed attack against him and referenced the nursing home scandal that his brother, Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, is embroiled in: “Hey Chris — did your [brother] ‘believe in science’ when he sent Covid-positive patients into nursing homes, killed tens of thousands of New Yorkers & then repeatedly lied about it?? Oh, I forgot, CNN won’t cover that….” Cruz tweeted.

A reporter informed Cruz that the CDC is recommending that those who are vaccinated still wear masks in public. Cruz replied, “CDC has said in small groups, particularly with people who were vaccinated don’t need to wear masks.”

Just recently, another reporter asked Cruz to put on a mask during a press conference and the senator tersely responded: “Uh, yeah, when I’m talking in front of the TV cameras I’m not going to wear a mask,” he informed the reporter. “And all of us have been immunized, so…”

At that point, the reporter told Cruz that masking up would make everyone feel more “comfortable.” Cruz didn’t miss a beat and replied: “You’re welcome to step away if you like. The whole point of a vaccine … CDC guidance is what we’re following.”

Sen. Paul has also been at the forefront of standing against the mandating of masks if you’ve been vaccinated or have already had the virus. “If you have immunity, you’re wearing a mask to give comfort to others. You’re not wearing a mask because of any science,” Paul told Dr. Anthony Fauci during a heated confrontation last month.
