Canadian authorities have allegedly been harassing, yelling anti-Semitic insults at and physically assaulting a group of conservative reporters who’ve been trying to document anti-lockdown protests.
These allegations were made on American conservative radio show host Glenn Beck’s nationally syndicated program Tuesday by Ezra Levant, a Canadian conservative who runs Rebel News.
According to Levant, his reporters at Rebel News have repeatedly had problems with Canadian authorities, particularly in the Toronto and Montreal areas.

When Rebel News founder Ezra Levant told me that his reporters have faced mockery and harassment, and have even been arrested by Canadian police while reporting on COVID-19 lockdowns, I didn’t want to believe that a nation like Canada has already fallen that far. But Ezra returned with video evidence of the confrontations, along with a warning for Americans: “This is YOUR future if you don’t protect your First Amendment…”

“We have a reporter there who happens to be Jewish, and he would go out and report on the lockdown, because Montreal has an 8 pm curfew. … He goes out there with his camera. He has an exemption under the law,” Levant told Beck.
He added, “He reports on the police, and they start harassing him. They give him thousands of dollars in tickets even though he has an exemption, and they start calling him ‘Jew media,’ ‘you’re the Jew.'”
When Levant sent “more reporters” out there, the authorities “started to arrest our reporters, handcuff our reporters, slam them up against vans,” he told Beck.
“Our reporters were pulled out of the crowd and arrested, handcuffed, slammed against the van because they had cameras pointed at the police,” he said.

Even “more reporters” were reportedly sent this past weekend.
“This weekend we sent 17 reporters from the office to Montreal. They rented an Airbnb [houseboat]. … We hired three Montreal lawyers to brief the team … and as we went out into the streets, we had a criminal lawyer walk with us,” Levant explained.
At first they had no problems, but then the authorities suddenly raided their Airbnb.
“They claimed it was an illegal gathering. It was just an Airbnb. I told them to get a warrant. I went out there … and they wouldn’t let me back in. … It turned into a ten-hour standoff. They couldn’t find a judge willing to give them a search warrant, so to punish us, they called the whole thing a crime scene,” Levant told Beck.
He added, “They actually wouldn’t let any of my team off the boat unless they submitted to a personal search, which is illegal. And the craziest part, is that they arrested one of my guys, took him to jail, and they said this to us: We will hold him in jail until you let us search the Airbnb without a warrant.”

According to Levant, these alleged attacks on his reporters have been completely ignored by Canada’s establishment media. If Americans aren’t careful, he added, this could soon start happening in the U.S. as well.
“If you do not protect your First Amendment, if you do not hold those hard-won freedoms, you will be like what we are. This is your future if you don’t protect your First Amendment,” he said.
