Cher learns to think before she tweets after she has to apologize twice for ‘imprecise’ Floyd tweet

Singer/Actress Cher has issued a second apology after doing some “soul searching” for a now-deleted tweet concerning the murder of George Floyd and how she thought she could have stopped it if she had been there.

Cher has been besieged by critics over the last few days after she emotionally sent out a tweet concerning the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who is charged with the murder of George Floyd. Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck during an arrest for approximately nine minutes and is accused of contributing to his death in 2020. Cher was accused of having a “white savior” complex for her tweet and making the tragedy all about her and not Floyd.

The music legend profusely apologized previously for the tweet but evidently felt she needed to do so a second time due to the massive backlash over it. Tuesday on Twitter she said she was sorry once again and promised she would try and do better on social media: “These last days have been Hard,Soul Searching,Painful Ones. My Wording Was Wrong/Imprecise,” she groveled. “When I’m Over-emotional I Should Wait,Walk Away, Then Twt.”

Cher added: “I Felt Sorrow,& Did Wish I Could have Helped George.Sometimes you can feel what you can’t Explain in a twt.Sorry is All I Have.”

In the original tweet, Cher spoke of talking about the trial with her mother: “Was talking With Mom & She Said ‘I Watched Trial Of Policeman Who Killed George Floyd,& Cried,’ I Said ‘Mom,I Know This Is Gonna Sound CRAZY,But.. I Kept Thinking …..Maybe If I’d Been There,…I Could’ve Helped.”

Cher’s follow-up tweet displayed her resentment of people who were attacking her: “Wrestled With This Twt, Because I Thought some ppl wouldn’t understand, Or Believe an Entertainer Could have Honest emotions about a human Being, suffering & Dying, even if It’s Only Shown On tv. You Don’t Know What I’ve Done,Who I Am,Or What I Believe.I CAN,I HAVE,& I WILL..HELP,” she said.

Just hours later, Cher would turn around and give another apology to anyone she might have offended or upset in the black community. She claimed that a discussion with a friend caused her to rethink her words and declare that she was sorry for them.

“I Just got off phone With Friend Karen.Told her what Happened,& Realized,You Can Piss Ppl Off,& Hurt Them By Not Knowing Everything That’s”NOT Appropriate”To Say.I know Ppl Apologize When They’re In a Jam,BUT🤚🏼TO GOD🙏🏼,IM TRULY SORRY If I Upset AnyOne In Blk Community.I Know My❤️,” she tweeted.

It appears that Cher is glued to the trial and is riveted by it. She can’t seem to tear herself away from it and her tweets seem to reflect how ensconced she is in the drama.

She has also tweeted praise for the witnesses standing against the officer on trial: “Feel So Unbelievably Sad For The Brave Ppl Who Stood Their Ground To Bear Witness,& Chronicle The Murder Of George Floyd For All The World To See,” she wrote Wednesday. “These Were Americans Who Didn’t/Couldn’t Walk Away From a Fellow Human Being Having His Last Breath…Crushed Out Of His Body.”
