Rush Limbaugh producer, screener, and longtime friend James Golden, aka Bo Snerdley, sat down for an interview Tuesday on NewsMax and ripped into “60 Minutes” for its selectively edited report on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. He indicated that “they want to take him out early” because he’s a strong leader.
While addressing what DeSantis labeled as a “hit job,” Golden explained why the left wants to take down the Republican governor: “Let me speculate as to why some people have it in for Governor DeSantis. They want to take him out early. Governor DeSantis is seen as a threat because he’s a strong governor in the state of Florida; he kept the state open.”
“Florida’s economy is doing so much better than in other places in the country because of his leadership and he has been outspoken. He took so much heat in the beginning when he decided to keep Florida open and it was the right decision,” he noted.
“And when you look at the number of people who have tragically died from COVID, their numbers are no higher than other places. And what he has done is shown what excellent leadership is. Now, what does that do? That sets him in sharp contrast with Joe Biden. It sets him in sharp contrast with the Democrat Party,” Golden remarked.

Governor DeSantis weighed in on the “fake narrative” from CBS and “60 Minutes” on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday: “All [CBS] was looking to do was a hit job on me to try to smear me just because I’m in the other party than them. That’s the only reason. You know, they’re based in New York. What do they do with the Governor of New York who’s in their party? They do puff pieces. They do all this stuff.”
“Would you rather get a vaccine as a senior in Florida or up in New York? Obviously, we’ve done a much better job of protecting seniors. A lot of people were leaving New York to try to come and get vaccines here,” he explained.
“So, this is partisan corporate media and I think at this point these people like this reporter they’re basically ambulance chasers with a microphone. They are not trustworthy. They lie. We know they’re lying, they know that we know that they’re lying and yet they lie and they lie and they lie,” DeSantis stated.
Democratic state officials, the Publix grocery chain, and conservative pundits have roundly rejected the “60 Minutes” story that accused DeSantis of pay-for-play.
Palm Beach County Mayor David Kerner, who is a Democrat, stood by DeSantis: “The reporting was not just based on bad information – it was intentionally false.”
“I know this because I offered to provide my insight into Palm Beach County’s vaccination efforts and ’60 Minutes’ declined. They know that the governor came to Palm Beach County and met with me and the county administrator and we asked to expand the state’s partnership with Publix to Palm Beach County …,” Kerner explained.
“We have confronted this pandemic for over a year. Our residents, like all Americans, are tired. And the media is making it worse. They are hellbent on dividing us for cheap views and clicks. ’60 Minutes’ should be ashamed,” Kerner continued, adding that the program left his perspective out of the story because it “kneecaps their narrative,” he declared.
CBS is standing by their reporting. Fox News asked them why a defense of pay-for-play allegations wasn’t addressed and a CBS News spokesperson stated they simply repeated claims that were already being made by Florida newspapers and then refused to comment.

“60 Minutes” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi portrayed DeSantis in the report as an evil individual who put senior citizens ahead of teachers. She insinuated that the Publix grocery chain was involved in a pay-for-play scheme with DeSantis when they were chosen to distribute the vaccine because they donated $100,000 to his PAC.
Publix made a public statement that called the idea that they were granted special access “absolutely false and offensive.”
“The irresponsible suggestion that there was a connection between campaign contributions made to Governor DeSantis and our willingness to join other pharmacies in support of the state’s vaccine distribution efforts is absolutely false and offensive. We are proud of our pharmacy associates for administering more than 1.5 million doses of vaccine to date and for joining other retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia to do our part to help our communities emerge from the pandemic,” a Publix spokesperson stated.
An insider at CBS News claimed the Publix statement was left out of the “60 Minutes” report because they missed the submission deadline.
