Notoriously anti-Trump model/actress Chrissy Teigen has reportedly quit Twitter again, though whether she’ll actually stick with it this time remains unclear.
In tweets posted Wednesday evening to her 13.7 million followers, the hot-headed actress thanked her fans for their support but said that all the “negativity” on Twitter — which her record shows she’s at times been a cause of — was not serving her well.
“Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world. I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends. But it’s time for me to say goodbye. This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something,” she wrote in several tweets that were screenshotted by CNN.
She continued, “My life goal is to make people happy. The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me. I’ve always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I’m just not. My desire to be liked and fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn’t sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as! Live well, tweetsers. Please know all I ever cared about was you!”
The posts seemed to be an admission that, while she wasn’t innately a “clap back” type person, she’d become that way because of Twitter’s environment.
Perhaps that’s true, though that would not excuse her past behavior, which included driving a pile-on against a disabled veteran for the apparent crime of criticizing her:

It also included an unprovoked attack last year on then-first lady Melania Trump:

Perhaps the worst of it was directed at another celebrity.
In a five-minute video posted to Instagram last spring, former child model Courtney Stodden, then-25, accused Teigen, who’s nine years her senior, of having bullied her via Twitter when she was a teenager.
“What really is bothering me … that I need to discuss is so-called celebrity bullying, especially when there’s a minor involved. I feel like women need to empower women, and there was a time in my life when I was 16 and 17 years old being abused by an alcoholic almost every single night,” Stodden said.
She was talking about actor Doug Hutchinson, then-58, whom she had married nine years earlier.
“And then on top of that, I had so-called celebrities slut-shaming me, bullying me and it makes me wonder where are as a society — we aren’t as far along as I thought we were for women,” she added.
This time she was talking about Teigen.

“She stalked me, she harassed me, she bullied me. And keep in mind I was a minor. I was 16 and 17 during her period of bullying me and hating on me,” Stodden added.
“I tried digging up some of her tweets, but she would tweet me almost every single day. She’d call me a wh–e, a s–t, she’d tell me she hated me, she would just every name in the book, she called me.”
There’s a reason former President Donald Trump once referred to her as the “filthy mouthed wife” of equally venomous anti-Trump singer John Legend.
Dovetailing back to the present, will Teigen actually stay off Twitter, though? She didn’t last time when, in 2014, she quit Twitter the first time.
“[A]fter getting a vitriolic response to her comments regarding the October 22 shootings in Ottawa, Ontario, Teigen posted that she’s quitting Twitter for the (presumably) safer pastures of Instagram,” CNN reported at the time.
According to CNN, the backlash erupted after the actress responded to the shooting by tweeting, “active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in america, wednesday. That’s not a joke. It is a fact. … I’ve lost faith in this world. Sorry if it comes off as being unemotional. There is just so much bad.”
The backlash the joke provoked was too much for her, which is ironic given that it was just a taste of the hate she’s directed at others.
“I can’t see anything through the sea of hate and anger that is now my Twitter. Seriously I can’t sift through it all. It’s gotten to the point people don’t even see (t)he simplicity of the original tweet and have just wanted to get shaking-mad over something,” she reportedly tweeted.
“I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to Instagram,” she reportedly added.
Speaking of which, just like last time, Teigen is still active on Instagram:

This suggests that like last time, she’ll eventually be back on Twitter.
