Rand Paul on Fauci: Show me the evidence or mask mandate’s not about science, it’s about submission

Senator Rand Paul spoke with Brian Kilmeade on “Fox News Primetime” Monday concerning Dr. Fauci and other medical professionals wanting Americans to wear masks and not question the State’s authority.

Kilmeade began by asking Paul if Fauci had changed his mind in any meaningful way. In the numerous confrontations between Paul and Fauci, it is obvious that Biden’s COVID advisor will never do that. Paul is a doctor himself and vociferously taken great issue with the mask mandate especially after someone has already been vaccinated.

The senator replied at length: “You see what his argument is. His argument is what if, what if these people can spread it? And my response is… show me the evidence. Show me the proof, you know, show me that people are transmitting this who have gotten vaccinated and there is no proof of that. In fact, the vaccine is doing very well. There have been almost no hospitalizations of someone who has been vaccinated. Been almost no deaths, I think zero deaths from people getting COVID and a vaccination. They are arguing you might be able to transmit it. All I’m saying is if you want me to wear a mask for two more years or three more years or for the rest of my life, why don’t you show me evidence? Why shouldn’t the burden be on the government to show us evidence that we are still somehow transmitting this?”

“And you notice what he slipped in there at the end, this is the real truth. It’s about civility. And he thinks it’s no big deal. People’s livelihoods being lost. Restaurants being shut down. I don’t know if it’s being civil to have an empty booth between me and the next person. If it doesn’t work, why are we doing it?” Paul asked.

Then Kilmeade asked Paul about the 6-foot distancing rule and what he thought of it. He quoted Dr. Scott Gottlieb: “The 6-foot distancing requirement has probably been the single costliest mitigation tactic that we’ve employed in response to COVID. And it really wasn’t based on clear science. We implemented it early on with the assumption that the Coronavirus was going to be spread like influenza and it probably caused us to under-estimate the utility of high-quality masks in reducing transmission. It probably caused us to over-estimate the impact of distancing the 6 feet.”

Paul would go on to expand on Gottlieb’s statement: “But here’s the interesting part, If you listen carefully to what he was saying, he thinks it should have been like 20 feet because the science says that 6 feet doesn’t help anything. The other thing that was interesting in what he said was quality masks and everybody skips over this. Cloth masks don’t work. The N95 masks work. You won’t see a doctor in a hospital going into a COVID patient’s room with a cloth mask because they don’t want to get the disease, yet, half of the country is running around with Fauci wearing a bunch of cloth masks all over his face saying they work when in reality he knows they don’t work and it’s about civility, submission, and it’s about having you do what you are told without thinking or questioning the State.”

“You know, as much as the left wants a completely different narrative, history is going to record that there was a miracle that occurred in getting this vaccine,” Paul predicted.

“Sorry Dr. Fauci and other fearmongers, new study shows vaccines and naturally acquired immunity DO effectively neutralize COVID variants,” Sen. Paul also tweeted out on Sunday.

“Good news for everyone but bureaucrats and petty tyrants!” Sen. Paul declared in an assumed jab at Fauci while linking to a just-released research paper.

Last Friday, Paul called Fauci a liar when speaking with Tucker Carlson. “What Fauci won’t tell you is he is telling you a ‘noble lie,’” Paul stated.

“He is lying because he doesn’t think we are smart enough to make decisions,” Paul noted. “His fear is, if we quit wearing masks, the vaccinated [people] will say, ‘What the hell, I’m not wearing a mask either.’”

“There was Dr. Fauci’s opinion, his conjecture that someday there might be a [coronavirus] variant that escapes the control of the vaccine and becomes a pandemic and hospitalizes and kills people,” Paul explained. “But there is no evidence it has happened. He thinks it might happen, so you need to wear the mask until he’s sure that things that might happen are not going to happen.”

Paul also said that Fauci is “unconcerned about liberty” and is “wearing two masks for theater” while “not being honest with the American public.”
