Fair game? Kamala Harris trends after Biden stumbles then falls headed to Air Force One

President Biden started to run up the stairs of Air Force One on Friday before stumbling twice and then falling down. Social media proceeded to meltdown and Vice President Kamala Harris trended on Twitter in response to the viral incident.

Biden was at Joint Base Andrews en route to Atlanta, Georgia when the accident occurred. In between trips and his fall, it appeared that the president tried to gather himself unsuccessfully. He eventually was able to stand upright and finish climbing the stairs. He gave a salute from the top of the steps before he finished boarding. All of this was recorded by the press from multiple angles. A reporter said it was windy as if that was somehow the cause of Biden’s misstep.

The White House would later report that Biden “is doing 100% fine” after his encounter with the stairs and his fall.

After the first two stumbles, Biden remained upright but then he fell going out of view on one angle with only his hand visible. The other view was much less kind and you can see Biden crumpled on the stairs in a very awkward position.

White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield was quick to make clear Biden’s condition: “I know folks have seen that President Biden slipped on his way up the stairs to AF1, but I’m happy to report that he is just fine and did not even require any attention from the medical team who travels with him,” she said. “Nothing more than a misstep on the stairs.”

No word yet on what countries such as Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are saying on the matter given the rising tensions with the U.S.

This incident follows another in December when Biden fractured his foot while playing with and chasing his dog. The president is 78.

On Thursday, President Biden referred to Vice President Harris as the president. It’s not the first time he has made that particular gaffe.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) appeared on Sean Hannity’s show on Thursday and mocked Biden for the slip.

“When it comes to the Harris-Biden relationship, everyone in Washington knows that every time Kamala Harris shakes the hand of Joe Biden, she’s checking his pulse,” Gaetz snarked.

“I believe that Russia is not the great threat that some of the establishment would portray it … China’s the real threat that faces our generation and country,” he continued.

Gaetz’s comments were prescient: “We will not defeat China in a world in which we portray weakness. Today, Joe Biden portrays that very weakness, in his stature and his inability to address problems, in his acuity, and when we get down to the elements of the Trump presidency we want to maintain on trade, on international engagement, on focusing our foreign policy against the Middle Kingdom, not the Middle East, it’s important that we continue to preserve that America First doctrine because I think Joe Biden wants to take us back to a world in which we threat construct around Russia rather than focusing on the real threat that will drive whether or not America continues to lead another generation of global success.”

Twitter went wild in response to Biden’s stumbles and fall. ‘Harris’ began trending as many insinuated that Kamala Harris was one step closer to the presidency.

As for Biden’s slip-up, he had previously mocked former President Trump for a widely panned walk down a slippery ramp. Some argued this made Biden ‘fair game’ for ridicule.

“Look at how he steps and look how I step. Watch how I run up ramps, and he stumbles down ramps,” Biden chided.

Turns out, Trump being extra careful walking down a slippery ramp was a smart move.
