Well, that didn’t take long, though it was predictable that someone would step forward and attempt to pin the Atlanta-area massage parlor shootings on the right.
At least eight people are dead, according to reports, with six victims of Asian descent.
While police had initially said it wasn’t clear if race was a factor in the shootings, the suspect, Robert Aaron Long, a 21-year-old white male from Woodstock, Ga., told law enforcement the shootings were not racially motivated, Fox News reported.
Long was arrested just hours after Tuesday’s shootings at three Atlanta-area massage parlors. He took “full responsibility” for the attacks, according to the network, and he told police the locations served as “an outlet for him” to succumb to purported sex-addiction temptations.
Despite little being known about the shootings, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” trotted out Trump-hating Asian-American Kurt Bardella — linked to the grifters at the disgraced Lincoln Project — to blame former President Trump and the Republican Party. That Bardella once worked at Breitbart News makes it all the better.
Having few facts, Bardella was given a national platform to declare the shooting a “hate crime,” insisting that the nation has “reached a crisis point.”
Pointing to an uptick in Asian American attacks, he asked, “Why is this happening? Why have we seen, according to new data, this huge uptick in violence against Asian Americans?”
“And it all coincides with the rhetoric of the Republican Party using terms like ‘China Virus’ and ‘Kung-Flu,’” Bardella claimed, citing the fact that Republicans did not vote in favor of a Democratic bill condemning violence against Asian Americans.
(Legislation of this nature is always chock full of partisan pursuits.)
“Like, how do you vote against something like that? How do you tell people who look like me with a recorded vote that our lives mean less than other people’s?” he said. “How do you condone rhetoric that’s been proven to show incites violence and hate and makes the world more dangerous for people like me, how do you condone that behavior?”
Inching closer to naming Trump, Bardella added, “How do you clap when someone says China Virus and look the other way time and again when the leader of your party continues to use this type of inflammatory rhetoric?”
Taking it to the next level, Bardella cited the Jan. 6 Capitol protest to say “we know … supporters of the Trump movement that will take their words literally and perpetrate violence against the targets of them.”
“I’m so tired of going through life with this bullseye on my back by one of the two major parties, It makes me sick,’ he concluded, fully embracing a victim status the liberal media rewards with national television spots like this.
Since Bardella stopped short of naming Trump, Morning Joe co-host Willie Geist filled in the blanks.
“I hear you. It’s powerful,” Geist said. “You know, it’s another case where President Trump, former President Trump, never understood the power of his words. It was a throw-away line. He thought maybe it was funny or stirred up his base, but a lot of people who tune into everything he says take it more literally.”
“The case in Atlanta, authorities have not drawn a link to the hate crime and you can look at the pattern of the three shootings,” he continued.
In praising the wonders of President Biden, Bardella said the country “went the better part of a year with the most powerful person, with the biggest microphone in the land enflaming racial tensions in this country.”
“When there’s a hate crime against one of us, it really affects all of us,” he would add.
Now that we know the Atlanta shootings were not racially motivated, according to the alleged gunman, don’t expect a retraction from these partisan hacks.
Long was reportedly on his way to Florida when he was arrested Tuesday night, Fox News reported. Arrested about 150 miles south of Atlanta, he did not resist, but did indicate to law enforcement that he was potentially going “to carry out additional shootings.”
While speaking with reporters, Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds said Long “made indicators that he has some issues, potentially sexual addiction, and may have frequented some of these places in the past.”
