Florida Popeyes drive-thru turns into wild mob assault and robbery – all caught on video

Unlike Chick-fil-A, which tends to bring out the best in customers, for some reason Popeyes seems to often bring out the worst in them.

Over in Florida’s Palm Beach County, the home of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, an argument between four female Popeyes’ customers and a Popeyes cashier devolved into a full-fledged fistfight this week.

Of course, everybody argues with others from time to time. But rare is the person or group of persons who jump out of a vehicle while parked at the drive-through of a Popeyes and proceed to try to whoop the cashier’s butt.

Yet that rarity happened exactly as described on Tuesday.

Watch:

But it gets worse. According to a press release published by the Palm Beach County’s Sheriff Office, the four scrappy passengers seen above wound up spitting on the cashier, robbing the cashier, attacking other employees and then fleeing the scene.

Well done, everybody …

“Upon reaching the window the female passenger/suspect got into a verbal argument with the employee/cashier, spat at and attacked the employee/cashier. … One of the female suspects reached into the window and grabbed money from the register,” PBSO wrote.

Meanwhile, the other two suspects “got out of the vehicle and began attacking two other employees inside the restaurant.  All four (4) female suspects entered the vehicle and fled the area.”

While it’s not clear what provoked the argument, it’s known that Popeyes chicken sandwiches are so good they’re known to drive people to a frenzy.

It all started on Aug. 12th, 2019, when Popeyes released a chicken sandwich to compete with Chick-fil-A. The sandwich was reportedly bigger, juicier and crustier.

Unfortunately, it was so good that all hell broke loose.

“After its release on Aug. 12, Popeyes’ chicken sandwich sold out in just over two weeks, during which time customers went to great — and sometimes violent — lengths to get their hands on the sandwich,” The Kansas City Star reported.

On Aug. 27th, Popeyes announced it’d completely sold out of the sandwich. Not til November of that year did the sandwich finally return — but so did the violence.

“On Monday, police in Maryland say Kevin Tyrell Davis, 28, was stabbed to death after an argument with another customer while the two were in line to order at a Popeyes in Oxon Hill, CNN reported. Police say surveillance video appears to show Davis attempting to cut in a line set up specifically for customers planning to order the chicken sandwich,” as reported by the City Star at the time.

“Police say another customer confronted Davis and the two ultimately went outside, where Davis was stabbed, according to the news outlet. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, and police say they are still looking for the suspect.”

Then a couple days later, this happened:

While the hype over the sandwich has since died down, it appears the violence is ongoing.

There’s this from last summer:

Then a couple months later, this happened:

“Surveillance video obtained by News4 shows a violent struggle between a male security guard and a female food delivery driver at a Popeyes restaurant in Maryland. The video shows the delivery driver, Stephanie Samuels, struggling with security guard Darrell Poston inside the restaurant in Capitol Heights last month,” station WRC reported.

“Samuels says she was trying to leave the restaurant when Poston told her to use a different door in compliance with the restaurant’s coronavirus protocols. She says Poston attacked her when she refused.”

Watch the footage for yourself:

None of this is to say Popeyes’ food isn’t worth it. It’s just that, in case you do want to enjoy some of its food, just be careful of some more animated customers.
