Biden admin reportedly has unofficial, VERBAL order to limit Border Patrol interaction with media

The Biden administration has allegedly imposed an unofficial gag order on Border Patrol agents to prevent them from providing information and access to the news media amidst the massive surge of illegal aliens, including minors, pouring into the U.S. from Central America which other critics insist is the result of open-borders policies.

That is the contention of six unnamed active and retired Customs and Border Protection officials, NBC News has reported, noting, too, that there is some resistance to the information embargo in the ranks.

“Border Patrol officials have been told to deny all media requests for ‘ride-alongs’ with agents along the southern land border; local press officers are instructed to send all information queries, even from local media, to the press office in Washington for approval; and those responsible for cultivating data about the number of migrants in custody have been reminded not to share the information with anyone to prevent leaks, the officials said.

“The new restrictions have been passed down verbally, not through an official memo, the officials said. The unofficial policy has led some agents at the border to release videos that show mass arrests and surges of migrants without permission from Washington, two officials said,” NBC added.

The purportedly transparent Biden administration, which is still unwilling to describe the situation as a crisis, has also so far reportedly declined to give the media access to a new southern Texas processing center where migrant children have purportedly rendered the facility at overcapacity. The Biden team has also apparently been unwilling to definitively publicly disclose the number of unaccompanied children in custody in the system generally.

The Department of Homeland Security has reportedly been reluctant to release any photos of these facilities either.

The Trump administration, whose effective border enforcement procedures — including the Remain in Mexico policy for asylum seekers — were quickly reversed or watered down by the Biden team with disastrous results, reportedly gave officials much more autonomy in terms of interacting with the media. No ride-alongs with reporters, for example, have occurred since Inauguration Day 2021.

That the liberal corporate media is actually publishing information even with mild criticism of the Biden administration’s immigration policies is an interesting development as the humanitarian and law-enforcement border crisis worsens.

In a recent appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight, former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan declared that the Biden administration “inherited the most secure border I’ve seen in my almost 35-year career” and in just a few months, “Our border is at chaos, and the men and women of Border Patrol deserve better, and the president abandoned them.”.

Separately, Art Del Cueto, the National Border Patrol Council vice president, has offered a potential solution. He has suggested that Congress authorize the hiring of additional immigration judges and place them in detention centers so they can quickly deal with migrant claims of asylum rather than catch and release illegal aliens into the country and expect them to return for a hearing two-to-three years later (which seldom happens).

Del Cueto also claimed that the current situation has been a “bonanza” for the Mexican cartels in terms of human smuggling.
