Vice President Kamala Harris ignored a question by a reporter on Wednesday concerning Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s ever-growing sleazy sexual harassment scandal.
Harris spoke with reporters following the House of Representatives passing President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID relief package. As she was wrapping up the interview, a reporter threw a question at her asking what her take was on the allegations against Cuomo.
“Madame Vice President, do you have any comment on Gov. Cuomo?” the reporter asked Harris. But she walked out of the press briefing stonily silent in regards to the question.
Cuomo’s scandal is getting worse as a sixth alleged victim has now stepped forward to accuse him of inappropriate conduct. He has arrogantly refused to resign, even as calls for him to step down have been mounting, and has denied all wrongdoing. On Wednesday, the Albany Times-Union ran with the story that a former aide is now alleging that the governor groped her at his mansion last year. She claims he reached under her shirt and fondled her. To be fair, the media outlet is using an unidentified source for their reporting here.

Harris has been asked about Cuomo repeatedly over the last few weeks and has not condemned him, even though she was a staunch proponent of the #MeToo movement. She also went after Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and former Democratic Sen. Al Franken when they were accused of sexual misconduct. A number of critics are calling her silence hypocritical.
“I believe her,” Harris commented in regards to Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations against Kavanaugh in September 2018. “Anybody who comes forward at this point to be prepared to testify in the U.S. Senate against someone who’s being nominated to one of the most powerful positions in the U.S. government, that takes an extraordinary amount of courage.”
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki spoke on Harris’ silence concerning the scandal last week when questioned by Fox News reporter Kristen Fischer: “I think the vice president’s view is she believes a woman should be treated with respect. Their voices should be heard. They should tell their story,” Psaki stated.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James has opened an investigation into claims against Cuomo.
“As I said yesterday, I have never done anything like this,” Cuomo asserted. “The details of this report are gut-wrenching. I am not going to speak to the specifics of this or any other allegation given the ongoing review, but I am confident in the result of the Attorney General’s report.”
Harris is not the only Democrat woman having a hard time addressing the Cuomo scandal. When New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was asked about Cuomo’s alleged conduct, she deflected.
“Asking every female elected in our state when a person should resign or not resign really isn’t the conversation we should be having,” she said to Yahoo Finance.
“And I have to say, it’s exceedingly frustrating because so many men who are also in public leadership aren’t asked these questions day to day,” Gillibrand deflected.
“The women in our state are not meant to be judges, jurors, and executioners,” she bizarrely stated, seemingly in defense of Cuomo.
New York State Republicans are planning on introducing a resolution to impeach Governor Cuomo.
