Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota rapped Andrew Cuomo, her Democratic counterpart from New York, in a Saturday segment with Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro over increasing accusations of sexual harassment as a fourth woman came forward to make new allegations.
In bringing in Noem after her opening monologue, Pirro noted the new allegations and asked if Cuomo should resign.
The governor noted she had already heard about the new charges from a third former aide to the New Yorker, adding that she is amazed by “how differently the media has treated Gov. Cuomo compared to [Supreme Court Justice] Brett Kavanaugh.”
“You know, over and over now we’ve heard these women tell their stories against Gov. Cuomo, and I think that the media not covering it until several of them came forward was shameful,” Noem said.
The Washington Post reported Saturday that former Cuomo press aide Karen Hinton recalled a “very long, too long, too intimate” hug from the Democratic governor once, while another accuser, former aide Ana Liss, said he touched her lower back and kissed her on the cheeks.
“A former press aide of Andrew M. Cuomo says he summoned her to his dimly lit hotel room and embraced her after a work event in 2000, when Cuomo led the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and she was a consultant for the agency,” the Post reported. “The woman, Karen Hinton, says she pulled away from Cuomo, but he pulled her back toward his body, holding her before she backed away and left the room.”
For his part, Cuomo — through a spokesperson — denied the Hinton allegation.
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal, which reported Liss’ accusations, said that she recalled Cuomo “hugged her, kissed her on both cheeks and then wrapped his arm around her lower back and grabbed her waist” while she worked “at a May 6, 2014, reception at the Executive Mansion in Albany.”
They then turned to a photographer who took the following picture, posted by WSJ reporter Jimmy Vielkind.

Noem noted that the media’s shunted coverage of Cuomo’s expanding sexual harassment allegations “is exactly what happened throughout this pandemic.”
“They treated him very differently than they treated governors such as myself that made different choices than Gov. Cuomo did,” Noem, who never imposed a statewide stay-at-home order on her residents during the outbreak, added.
“I didn’t pass any mandates, I didn’t issue any shelter-in-place orders. Gov. Cuomo did all of those and more damage to his people and his economy, and [the media] held him up as the hero,” said Noem.
She added that “not only do Americans deserve better leaders, they deserve better governors than Gov. Cuomo.”
“They also deserve better media — the truth — and people that are actually reporters now rather than political operatives.”
Pirro responded by noting that Cuomo’s also been accused of hiding nursing home COVID deaths after ordering eldercare facilities to accept infected patients last March, a bad policy which is now being compounded by sexual allegations and thus increasing calls for him to step down.
“This has obviously been something repeated over and over in his life and in his actions,” Noem said in response to Pirro asking if it’s time for the New York governor to go.
“He’s tried to cover up his actions throughout the COVID pandemic, he tried to cover up…what happened in nursing homes, and now it appears as though he’s tried to cover up what has happened with these young women,” the GOP governor added.
“This kind of leadership is extremely detrimental to the promise of this country,” she noted further, adding that throughout the past year during the pandemic Americans have learned that toxic “leadership has consequences.”
