In a fiery and contentious interview on Thursday during Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, Jeanine Pirro and Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera locked horns over illegal immigration and American jobs, or the lack thereof.
The shouting match started when Hannity asked for each of their takes on illegal immigration and the sharp rise in unaccompanied illegal alien minors on the border. The lengthy segment featured the two excoriating each other while discussing President Biden’s undoing of former President Trump’s border policies.
The president has stopped work on building the wall and he has also ended the “remain in Mexico” asylum policy. Illegal immigration has allegedly exploded as a result of those moves.
Pirro contended that illegal immigrants are taking jobs away from Americans who desperately need them after getting pounded by the pandemic. “Don’t want to hear that we need workers Geraldo!” Pirro angrily stated. “We got 10 million, 17 million, however many million Americans are out of work. Biden invited those people in during the campaign.” And she was just getting warmed up.

Rivera tried to give his opinion, but Pirro was not finished yet: “I listened to you. You listen to me!” she demanded.
“They’ve got COVID. They’ve got all kinds of diseases. They’re being released into the United States! Now, you’re not going to tell me that a governor is going to shut me down and not allow me to do my job and let in illegals because we’ve got a heart? Mexico ought to have a heart! Mexico stopped them and now Joe Biden has convinced Lopez-Obrador to open the door, not to stop them!” Pirro continued.
Rivera proceeded to once again make his case for illegal immigrants, calling them “essential”: “In March of 2020, hundreds of thousands of these undocumented workers were deemed essential. ICE and Homeland Security were told to lay off,” he said. Rivera was ostensibly referring to Trump’s “essential worker” exception that was granted to migrant farmworkers who were seen as being necessary for our agricultural system to continue functioning.
“Why? Because they were picking our lettuce and our onions and our broccoli, they were feeding America.” Rivera stated, justifying their presence in the country even though they are breaking the law.
“Who deemed them essential!” Pirro angrily asked Rivera.
“They were deemed essential workers a year ago, a year ago during the height of the pandemic…” Rivera replied.
“Oh, so you’re saying Trump made an exception,” Pirro stated.
“They were deemed essential workers. Are they less essential now than they were then?” Rivera countered.
“We’ve got a pandemic. We have 17 million Americans out of work. We do not need…” Pirro continued before being interrupted once again.
“Seventeen million Americans out of work are not going to go back to picking lettuce or go back to the meatpacking plant or the poultry processing plant!” Rivera screamed at her.
“This is not the refugee landing point!” Pirro pounded home. “Look, Geraldo, we can barely afford our taxes now!”
Hannity ended the segment at that point trying to defuse the situation.
“I know how to solve it,” he stated, and then proceeded to list his solutions which included policies put in place by Trump that Biden has since removed and by following the law. That means building the wall and having an enforceable system to handle immigration, according to Hannity.
