Democrats are reportedly moving ahead with plans to take up President Joe Biden’s gun control proposals in the coming days and the National Rifle Association has already warned its members.
The NRA cited “sources in DC” in a message to members warning that Congress “will be voting on Biden’s extreme gun control legislation as early as next week.” Fox News host Laura Ingraham spoke with Breitbart columnist AWR Hawkins on Tuesday to run through “what is in this horror show of a piece of legislation.”
“Now, the Constitution exists to keep the government from what? Taking out of the rights, taking your rights? It’s supposed to protect your God-given rights,” the Fox News host said on “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday.
“Well, Democrats are now opening fire on many of them, including the Second Amendment. Yesterday the NRA warned that sources in DC report that Congress will be voting on Biden’s extreme gun-control legislation as early as next week,” she added.

“You’ve got universal background checks, as you know, introduced today by senator Chris Murphy. You have an expansion of the time it will take to do an instant background check that could be expanded indefinitely. It will definitely be expanded to no fewer than ten days…” Hawkins began, before referring to legislation being pushed by Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas.
H.R. 125 and H.R. 127 call for a seven-day waiting period on all purchases of semiautomatic firearms, registration of all firearms, registration of all ammunition as well as requirements for gun owners to be licensed, have liability insurance and undergo psychological evaluations.

Ingraham interjected during Hawkins’ response to point to a graphic outlining the proposed laws, noting the “huge” implications of a gun and ammunition registration.
In addition, legislation pushing for universal background checks is also expected to be coming from Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut and Rep. Mike Thompson of California.
The NRA tweeted a message Tuesday about the “sneaky” moves by Democrats in Congress.

On the anniversary of the Parkland school shooting last month, Biden called for more gun control, “including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets.”

Hawkins noted the scope of registering information on Americans who own firearms, telling Ingraham that “there are over 400 million guns in the U.S.”
“You know, the problem with those bills from Sheila Jackson Lee, Laura, if you keep reading into it, as I know you have done, she also requires liability insurance that you pay the government for. And if you don’t pay the government the $800 for liability insurance, boom, they take away the right for you to own the guns and ammo that you have registered,” he said.
Hawkins warned of the many trapdoors built into the proposed legislation.
“So they know you have them and you will have to hand them over. So this bill is full of trapdoor after trapdoor. It is very insidious,” he said, as Ingraham noted that “we are just scratching the surface.”
