‘Resign now!’ NY gun store owner ramps up billboard campaign to oust Gov Cuomo after latest bombshell

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is coming under increasing pressure to step down amid rising scandals, including a new billboard campaign being financed by an Albany gun store owner.

Cuomo came under fire last year, mostly in conservative media circles, for ordering nursing homes in his state to accept COVID-19 patients in spite of health experts’ warnings that older people with preexisting medical conditions were far more susceptible to contracting the disease and dying from it.

That scandal reached fever pitch beginning in late January with a report from New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office stating that Cuomo’s administration undercounted nursing home COVID deaths by at least 50 percent.

That bombshell was followed by an admission from his top aide, Melissa DeRosa, that Cuomo’s administration purposely hid those deaths out of fear of a federal investigation by the then-Trump administration.

And in ensuing days, Cuomo has been hit with accusations by at least three women that he was sexually inappropriate to them or around them — all of which has increased calls for him to step aside.

Brian Olesen, the owner of American Shooter Supply near Albany who previously rented electronic billboards blasting Cuomo over nursing home deaths, has now stepped up his game and is using the same venue to call for his resignation.

In an interview with the New York Post, Olesen said his initial message was “Impeach!” when he criticized the Democratic governor over the nearly 15,000 deaths that occurred in state nursing homes.

But following the new allegations of sexual misconduct, on Monday he changed the billboard to read “Resign Now!” in large red letters along with a photo of Cuomo.

“I think that a lot of New Yorkers understand there’s a sense of urgency here in regards to Governor Cuomo. We know he’s a liar, we know he’s a bully. Now he’s being accused of being a sexual predator,” Olesen told The Post.

“We have 15,000 fatalities in nursing homes [and other long-term care facilities] that he’s lied to us about. When are New Yorkers going to stand up and remove this guy from office?” Olesen added.

Currently, there is a federal probe into the Cuomo administration’s alleged withholding of data related to coronavirus deaths in nursing homes. Also, James’ office is in the process of empowering an outside independent legal firm to investigate the sexual harassment claims.

The sexual misconduct allegations began with a missive by former economic development staffer Lindsey Boylan in a post at Medium in which she claimed Cuomo asked her to play “strip poker” with him and described a time when he kissed her without her prior permission.

Other allegations of inappropriate touching or comments have followed, though Cuomo has denied any physical contact with the women — a claim that appears to have been debunked by a photo featuring him embracing former Obama administration and 2020 Biden campaign staffer, Anna Ruch.

As for Olesen, he said he’s paying $8,500 a month to rent the billboard.

“The guy has lost all credibility as a governor. The state is bankrupt, the nursing home scandal is teetering on the verge of criminally negligent homicide,” he said, noting he changed the sign because the impeachment process takes too long.

“Then there’s the latest, where he’s being accused of sexually harassing aides, which he vehemently denied, and then he releases a puff pie where he tried to rationalize it,” he added.  “Why would you apologize if you didn’t do something wrong?”
