Meghan McCain blasts media bias: ‘The only way to become a good Republican is to become a Democrat’

Meghan McCain slammed media bias on “The View” Tuesday, stating that they think “the only way to become a good Republican is to be a Democrat” during a contentious segment that prompted heated responses over former President Trump’s impeachment acquittal.

“I can’t keep coming on TV every day saying that [Republicans] are all Nazis and Hitler salutes and whatever,” McCain stated in response to Sunny Hostin calling all Republicans QAnon supporters. “It’s just not intellectually honest.”

“This is the Republican Party today, it is the ‘MAGA’ party, it’s the ‘QAnon’ party, it’s the Confederate flag, statue-loving party, and it is the Trump party,” Hostin accusingly said of the GOP.

Then Hostin threw the race card. She said that the GOP encompasses “white supremacists” and people who “carry Swastikas into the Capitol.” She also accused the Republican Party of ostracizing any member who took a stance against Trump.

“We all saw Mitch McConnell — you’re the reason why the trial happened after President Trump left, because you refused to start the trial while he was in office, you can’t have it both ways,” Hostin stated. “But that’s what he did and the Republican Party — shameful, shameful, shameful — stood and didn’t mind that police officers were murdered, didn’t mind that our democracy was attacked, didn’t mind any of that, and that’s what the Republican Party is today.”

McCain tore into Hostin for her “broad-stroke platitudes” that try to lump all Republicans into one category.

“I think it’s easy to say the Republican party is only the party of QAnon and all these things,” McCain countered. “And if that’s the truth, then the Democratic party is the party of socialism and late-term abortion and cancel culture and no responsibility or ramifications for any of your actions. And you can burn down cities like Kenosha and it’s fine … these are broad stroke platitudes,” she added. “I don’t believe either are true. I don’t think Republicans are simply QAnon supporters and I don’t think Democrats are simply socialists.”

She slammed the idea that the left could take the “crazy, QAnon Trump supporters” and simply “shame them into nonexistence.” She also referred to polls that show the majority of the Republican Party still supports Trump.

“As much as the Left wants to act like Republicans are only QAnon supporters, part of the problem is when I hear that, I automatically get very tribal,” McCain defensively stated. “I think the idea that the Republican Party is just one swath… it’s just not nuanced. The problem I have is the only way to become a good Republican is to become a Democrat, according to the media. I don’t know what to do anymore.”

These revelations followed Joy Behar torching the Republican Party over their support for the former president. Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin both berated Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for trying to have it both ways politically by acquitting Trump and then claiming he was responsible for the Capitol riot. McCain didn’t jump into that political fray.

Whoopi Goldberg concluded the segment by venomously lecturing McCain and the Republican Party by saying, “You showed your faces. You said you’re okay with everything that happened, all the things we’ve been taught by Americans that are not okay. You said it’s okay and you’ve opened the door for these people to act poorly.”
