FBI evidence changes Dems’ Capitol riot storyline: ‘What did Pelosi know, when did she know it?

Emerging evidence that the Jan. 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol was preplanned not only absolves former President Donald Trump of any guilt, according to Sen. Lindsey Graham, but it also raises questions about what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi knew at the time.

Speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity” late Wednesday, the South Carolina senator systemically dismantled congressional Democrats’ impeachment arguments against the former president by pointing out that they belie all the known evidence.

The FBI and the Capitol Hill police actually now understand this was pre-planned; they were planting bombs the night before. So the whole story line that Donald Trump calls this by his speech has fallen apart due to good law enforcement activity,” he said.

And here’s what I want to know: What did Nancy Pelosi know, and when did she know it? If this was widely known by the FBI and Capitol Hill Police that people were planning to come to Washington before the 6th to create violence, I want to know did she know about that?” he asked.

He’d also like an explanation for the Democrats’ hypocrisy.

“I don’t remember any of these House managers saying a damn thing when they were trying to break into my house and going after Susan Collins and spitting on all of us,” he said.

“If this is a problem for a politician to give the speech that President Trump did, well then Kamala Harris has a real problem because she actively engaged in bailing out rioters. And here’s what I would suggest: If you’re a politician trying to raise bail for people accused of rioting, you’re inciting more riots,” he said.

There’s also plenty of video footage of Vice President Kamala Harris actively promoting the deadly Black Lives Matter riots that occurred last summer.

Graham then turned his attention to the Democrats’ latest argument, which is that former President Trump had been in on the preplanning.

“The managers have got this cockamamie idea, absurd theory that Donald Trump was monitoring the Proud Boys website and other far-right websites, and that he and Dan Scavino [his then-chief of staff] knew this was going to happen and they encouraged it,” the senator said.

“That is looney-tunes, and you know why they’re saying that? Because if the president didn’t know and it was actually preplanned, he’s not guilty,” Graham noted.

And that would be a problem because the Democrats’ entire impeachment effort is based on the claim that it wasn’t a preplanned riot but rather a spontaneous one that erupted because of what Trump said at the Jan. 6th “Stop the Steal” rally.

“So for the first time today, they’re trying to create a [new] storyline that Donald Trump was in on it before it happened, that he was monitoring the Proud Boys and other crazy websites,” Graham explained. “And he knew they were going to come to Washington and with violence on their mind, and he encouraged it. That is beyond bizarre. This is not evidence, this is a liberal democratic novel being presented as evidence.”

Or put differently, it’s a last-ditch effort to convict an otherwise unimpeachable former president.

As noted by numerous media outlets and pundits, it’s virtually impossible for Trump to be convicted. A conviction would require a 2/3rds vote, yet even the simple majority vote needed to commence the trial barely made it.

“In a 55-to-45 vote that strongly suggested that the Senate would not be able to convict the former president, lawmakers narrowly killed a Republican effort to dismiss the impeachment charge as unconstitutional,” The New York Times reported late last month.

“A majority of Republicans rallied on Tuesday against trying former President Donald J. Trump for ‘incitement of insurrection,’ with only five members of his party joining Democrats in voting to go forward with the impeachment trial for his role stirring up a mob that attacked the Capitol.”

It’s just not going to happen, and as this is becoming exceedingly more clear, Democrats are growing increasingly more desperate.

“The whole storyline originally was Trump created this from a speech. Now we know the people had this on their mind before he ever spoke, so they’re playing this bizarre game of trying to get Trump in on it before Jan. 6th. This is why you don’t want to have snap impeachments. Evidence really does matter,” Graham added.

Well, it’s supposed to matter …

But instead, Democrats have resorted to conspiratorial speculation.

“The impeachment managers wove a narrative alleging that Trump’s legal and rhetorical challenges to the outcome of the election were part of a sinister, premeditated campaign to program a portion of his supporters to commit violence on Jan. 6,” The Epoch Times reported late Wednesday, in a summary of that day’s arguments.

“Reps. Joe Neguse (D-Colo.), Joaquin Castro (D-Texas), and Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) presented several selectively edited video clip compilations from Trump’s speeches beginning in spring last year and culminating in the speech the president delivered in Washington on the day of the Capitol breach,” the outlet added.

It was exactly as Graham had described it. But as noted by host Sean Hannity during Wednesday’s discussion with the senator, this can run both ways.

“If you compare the words … of Stacey Abrams and Hillary Clinton, and you intersperse the comments of the managers with the insurrectionist language of the left, guess what — it fits perfectly,” he said.

Fact-check: TRUE.

Though to be clear, so does the inflammatory rhetoric of many Democrats and many of their doting media sycophants:
