Left loses it when it’s reported ‘some’ GOP House members gave MTG a standing ovation after apology

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) formally apologized to her Republican colleagues in the House on Wednesday in a closed-door meeting for her past controversial remarks and for her support of QAnon. The meeting was allegedly heated but in the end, Greene received a standing ovation from some of her fellow House members.

In that meeting, Greene reportedly stated that she made a mistake over being curious about QAnon and had spoken with her children about the lesson she learned concerning social media. According to The Hill, she denied knowing about the “Jewish space lasers” thing, but “defended her comments that past school shootings were staged by stating that she had personal experience with a school shooting.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was also said to have met with Greene for 90 minutes and gave her several choices. Among them allegedly was resigning or apologizing. Greene evidently chose to apologize. According to The Hill, as Greene ended her remarks, she reportedly received a standing ovation from ‘some members’ of the caucus and that was enough to send the left into a frenzy.

On Thursday, the House will officially vote on whether to remove Greene from the House Budget and Education panels. She was seated on those panels by Republicans. McCarthy has taken no disciplinary action against Greene and seems to feel her apology sufficed.

The freshman representative has been constantly attacked by Democrats who are demanding her expulsion for voicing her beliefs over election fraud, attacking Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg over gun control, and for espousing conspiracy theories in the past. They also claim she has threatened other members of the House. They are incensed by her refusing to wear a mask at all times as well.

Many Republicans appear to be embarrassed by Greene’s stances and some have even called for her to leave the House of Representatives. They certainly don’t want her as the face of the Republican Party. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called her rhetoric a “cancer” on the GOP and labeled her as loony. McCarthy has harshly criticized Greene but he says he does not want to remove her from committees.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office released a statement on Wednesday basically calling McCarthy a coward for not taking Greene down, and then suggesting that he was the leader of the QAnon Party.

Greene’s apology follows House Republicans’ decision to keep Liz Cheney in place even though she called to have former President Trump impeached. And Cheney told CNN she does not regret that stance. McCarthy is now trying to provide a unified front that shows the party is not fracturing.

Although apologetic, Greene also allegedly said that nothing she could say would ever be good enough for the Democrats or the media.

House Democrats will vote Thursday on whether to strip Greene of her committee assignments.

“Anybody who advocates assassinations of members of Congress or anybody, I don’t believe should enjoy the privilege of serving on a committee,” Democratic Representative Jim McGovern stated. He proclaimed that Greene should resign or be expelled.

“I understand that Marjorie’s comments have caused deep wounds to many and as a result, I offered Majority Leader Hoyer a path to lower the temperature and address these concerns,” McCarthy put forth. “Instead of coming together to do that, the Democrats are choosing to raise the temperature by taking the unprecedented step to further their partisan power grab regarding the committee assignments of the other party.”

Reaction on social media was intense.

Bridgette Gabriel said, “Removing Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committees for things she said years ago is like impeaching a President after he leaves office.”

Author Nick Adams tweeted: “The Democrats are a national disgrace. They’re truly sickening. They think they can tell Marjorie Taylor Greene’s district who is allowed to represent them. They’re the most arrogant self-righteous pricks history has ever seen.”

On the other side of the aisle, the response was downright hateful.

Mayo was one of the worst: “Marjorie Taylor Greene, is now concealing a gun, her sedition, and Kevin McCarthy’s nuts.” Many others tweeted similar sentiments.

There was a huge amount of anger and vitriol over an unknown number of GOP applauders:

Greene is sure to be a polarizing figure in the Republican Party moving forward and the Democrats will continue to attack her incessantly.
