Tucker: Big Tech-funded study concludes Big Tech doesn’t censor conservatives. Big Tech spreads word!

An academic study has concluded that Big Tech doesn’t censor conservatives on social media. The big reveal, however, is that the findings were reportedly bought and paid for by Silicon Valley oligarchs.

“In 2021, billionaires fund their own studies, and in return for that investment, they get the conclusions they have paid for, and the rest of us get to obey those conclusions. That’s called ‘science,’ ladies and gentlemen, and suddenly it’s everywhere,” Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson concluded in one of his ongoing, signature editorials that has warned America about the outsized influence that Big Tech monopolies have over basic freedoms, including free speech.

“It almost reads like a press release from Silicon Valley. Why is that?  Because it is,” he said.

“This so-called academic study was, in fact, paid for by Big Tech…It was funded by a man called Craig Newmark…one of the many Silicon Valley billionaires who paid for the Joe Biden for President campaign. Now he’s paying for this,” Carlson claimed in the wide-ranging monologue embedded below in two parts from “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“One of the authors of this so-called academic study is a man called Paul Barrett. Craig Newmark is really Paul Barrett’s de’Medici, his patron. In September, Barrett released another study on why we should be very nice to Big Tech, as well as deeply respectful and always obedient. That study was also funded by Craig Newmark as well as by George Soros,” Carlson explained.

Carlson was talking about two New York University researchers who exonerated Big Tech in their study called “False Accusation, The Unfounded Claim that Social Media Companies Censor Conservatives.” In that study, the authors insisted that both conservatives and liberals get booted for violating Twitter rules against harassment, hateful conduct, or glorifying violence.

But it turns out that that assertion is apparently, to borrow a term from the liberal elites, without evidence.

“Can we get some numbers on that, NYU? No, actually we can’t. In the words of the study, ‘[p]inning down precise proportions on censorship is impossible because Twitter doesn’t release sufficient data.’ Are you following the reasoning here? Their conclusion is that Twitter is not biased, and we can be certain it’s not biased, because Twitter refuses to release data on who it bans,” Carlson explained.

According to the self-serving study, moreover, when Twitter shuts down someone for expressing a political opinion, it’s often just a mistake.

“If that sounds familiar, it’s because that is also Twitter’s explanation for censorship almost every single time. Do supporters of the Joe Biden administration get banned the same way, by mistake? We can’t tell you that because Twitter won’t give up the numbers,” Carlson continued.

“What we do know from the staff at NYU is that shutting down the New York Post’s entire Twitter account right before the election because the newspaper printed stories that were unflattering to the Biden family was not censorship…According to NYU, shutting down a newspaper’s account for its political views during a presidential election is not censorship. It is instead, and we’re quoting now, ‘reasonable,'” Carlson recalled.

Carlson also highlighted that the study created a feedback loop in which corporate media outlets such as the Washington Post and the New York Daily News promoted the findings as legitimate news.

Carlson went on to note that Facebook has now banned pro-recall ads on the platform to help its “close ally” Gavin Newsom, the deeply unpopular Democrat governor.

“Voters may not like Gavin Newsom, but Facebook likes Gavin Newsom, and that’s what matters…no governor in the country is more pro-billionaire than Gavin Newsom is…now that Gavin Newsom is in trouble, the richest people in the country are fighting to keep him in office,” he said.

As an aside, for many years and to this day, liberal Hollywood consistently portrayed corporations and corporate execs as the villains in movies and TV shows. In the real world, ironically, liberal Hollywood backs corporate America power centers, and indeed, is itself an exemplar of the excesses of Big Business.
