French beauty giant Sephora has officially severed ties with pro-Trump Christain beauty influencer and vlogger Amanda Ensing after on-line activists barraged the company with complaints about their partnership with her. Ensing has now decided to launch her “Make Makeup Great Again” line in response to the snub.
The MAGA Christian has spent nine years vlogging. She was a political science and business administration major in college with aspirations for law school, but after hitting it big on social media with her beauty advice, she went into that endeavor instead. Ensing has 1.4 million subscribers on YouTube and Instagram. She also has relationships with a number of brands that are standing in line to get access to her audience.
So, it came as a surprise when she was not only attacked online but dropped by Sephora. This came after she revealed last month that she is a conservative and a Christian. She also stated that she is a Trump supporter.
Ensing is doubling down with her new “Make Makeup Great Again” beauty line and there will be legal issues with Sephora for ditching her as well. She announced the new line on Instagram in a video entitled: “Conservatives aren’t going anywhere.” Her fans are also boycotting Sephora by the droves. “#BoycottSephora for saying conservatives, like myself, don’t align with @Sephora ‘values around inclusivity,” Ensing tweeted on Sunday.
Just after the 2020 presidential election, Ensing posted a video that exposed her political views for everyone to see. In it, the young influencer explained how she votes on policy and how she also adheres to her Christian faith. She made it clear that she has no issue with differing opinions. That was when she revealed that she voted for Trump.
On Jan. 6, the same day as the Capitol riot, Ensing tweeted:
“The left: I hate it here. America is embarrassing. Only we can riot & loot. Defund the police. Just do what the government tells you & don’t ask questions. The right: Let’s fight for freedom. We love the USA. Defend the Constitution. We support our Military & Law enforcement.”
For that tweet, she was attacked over and over again on social media by liberal activists.
When Ensing did a Sephora video listing her preferred skincare products, outraged comments flooded social media and Sephora got an earful. It didn’t take long for the makeup powerhouse to respond by ending its relationship with the vlogger.
Sephora sent this in response to one comment: “We were made aware that Amanda Ensing, an influencer contracted by one of our external vendors’ campaigns, recently shared content on social media that is not aligned with Sephora’s values around inclusivity. As soon as we were informed, we made the decision to cease all programming with Amanda and will not be engaging her for future partnerships.”
Ensing says that she was told to take down content endorsing Sephora because of her political and religious views. She claims that they ‘smeared’ her character.
According to the Daily Mail when Sephora ended the partnership they released the following on Monday in response to Ensing’s claims:
“Any claim that this decision was made on the basis of political or religious beliefs is inaccurate. We respect each individual’s right to have their own perspectives and freedom of expression. However, Sephora reserves the right to terminate any partnership we deem inappropriate for our brand.”
As for Ensing, her fans and others are standing fast with her during all of this. She had this to say about what was done to her and other conservatives:
“I have received more support from ‘we the people’ in the last couple of days than I have in my own industry in the last almost decade,” Ensing said. “What Sephora, brands, influencers, that are not including conservatives … into their story, telling us that we are ‘unworthy,’ or ‘bad people’ because of [our views]. That is not the future.”
