Twitter permanently banned MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell Monday evening after claiming he repeatedly violated its “Civic Integrity Policy.” All of his old tweets are gone as well. Lindell is just one more supporter of Trump who has been silenced on social media as censorship rages through our culture currently unchecked. Many speculate this will be used as another reason to repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and perhaps break up Big Tech.
Reuters is alleging that Lindell financed “post-election protest movements” in an effort to overturn the Electoral College certification of President Biden. Dominion Voting Systems is also threatening to sue the MyPillow CEO for defamation over voter fraud accusations. There’s a long line on the left waiting to take a swing at Lindell and the GOP is nowhere to be found.
Twitter released a statement to CNN that says, “The account you referenced has been permanently suspended due to repeated violations of our Civic Integrity Policy.” That policy stipulates that the number of violations determines the level of suspension, ranging from a 12-hour lock on an account to a permanent ban. Lindell had over 400,000 followers on Twitter.
“You may not use Twitter’s services for the purpose of manipulating or interfering in elections or other civil processes,” Twitter said in a January statement on the policy. CNN reports that those processes include “political elections, censuses, and major referenda and ballot initiatives.” Many contend that is cover for brazen violations of free speech and blatantly unconstitutional.
It is unknown exactly which of Lindell’s tweets got him booted from Twitter. But it should be noted that Forbes has pointed out that Twitter has been “active in using the policy to remove accounts spouting misinformation and conspiracy theories surrounding the U.S. presidential election in the aftermath of the [U.S.] Capitol riots.” Those accounts include Trump’s, Lindell’s, supporters of Trump, and what is alleged to be over 70,000 QAnon accounts.
Lindell is a former cocaine addict and alcoholic who says he found sobriety through Christianity. His faith is everything to him. He helped sponsor a two-week March for Trump bus tour that ended in Washington on Dec. 14 and spoke at five stops.
Lindell told Reuters that he did not help finance subsequent trips to promote the Jan. 6 rally that eventually turned into a riot as protesters stormed through the Capitol.
The riot did not change his views on contesting the election either. “I’m never letting the fraud go,” Lindell stated.
Lindell was just recently dropped by multiple major retailers such as Kohl’s, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Wayfair, along with others over his support of Trump, claims of election fraud, and his support of the “Stop the Steal” movement.
It is rumored that Mike Lindell is considering a run for the governorship of Minnesota. Trump allegedly supports the possibility: “Mike, if you did it, I would get behind you.”
Mike Lindell, to his credit, in the face of censorship, constant smears, and being ‘canceled’ is standing firm and saying he will not be intimidated and he will fight. He also still firmly supports Trump. Many conservatives feel the election is over, but the purge continues.
