Dominion Voting Systems announced Monday that they are officially suing Rudy Giuliani for $1.3 billion in damages for allegedly making false claims about the company during the 2020 election. The defamation lawsuit is 107 pages long and was filed in Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. Giuliani wasted no time in firing back against the lawsuit.
They are accusing Giuliani of making “demonstrably false” claims on Twitter, and elsewhere. Dominion feels they have a strong case and will not have to settle… they intend to have a trial. If they prevail, the suit would devastate Giuliani and allegedly end his career.
A number of allegations are presented against Giuliani who never presented the case against Dominion in court. The suit also seeks to link the former New York City mayor to the riot that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
According to the lawsuit:
“During a court hearing contesting the results of the 2020 election in Pennsylvania, Rudy Giuliani admitted that the Trump Campaign ‘doesn’t plead fraud’ and that ‘this is not a fraud case.’ Although he was unwilling to make false election fraud claims about Dominion and its voting machines in a court of law because he knew those allegations are false, he and his allies manufactured and disseminated the ‘Big Lie,’ which foreseeably went viral and deceived millions of people into believing that Dominion had stolen their votes and fixed the election.”
“Giuliani reportedly demanded $20,000 per day for that Big Lie. But he also cashed in by hosting a podcast where he exploited election falsehoods to market gold coins, supplements, cigars, and protection from ‘cyberthieves.’ Even after the United States Capitol had been stormed by rioters who had been deceived by Giuliani and his allies, Giuliani shirked responsibility for the consequences of his words and repeated the Big Lie again,” the filing continued.

Others are named in the lawsuit as well that Dominion may go after. They are targeting some of the biggest names on the right.
“As a result of the defamatory falsehoods peddled by Giuliani—in concert with Sidney Powell, Russell Ramsland, L. Lin Wood, Mike Lindell, Patrick Byrne, Lou Dobbs, Fox News, Fox Business, Newsmax, One America News Network (‘OAN’), The Epoch Times, and other like-minded allies and media outlets determined to promote a false preconceived narrative about the 2020 election—Dominion’s founder and employees have been harassed and have received death threats, and Dominion has suffered unprecedented and irreparable harm,” the lawsuit stated.
“Dominion brings this action to set the record straight, to vindicate the company’s rights under civil law, to recover compensatory and punitive damages, and to stand up for itself, its employees, and the electoral process.”
Giuliani fearlessly stated that this lawsuit “will allow me to investigate their history, finances, and practices fully and completely.
“The amount being asked for is, quite obviously, intended to frighten people of faint heart. It is another act of intimidation…” he continued, “by the hate-filled left-wing to wipe out and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to defend their clients vigorously. As such, we will investigate a countersuit against them for violating these Constitutional rights.”
He obviously believes he is in the right and has sufficient proof to back up his claims. Giuliani plans to duke it out with Dominion.

This lawsuit is just the latest litigation to be brought forth targeting Trump allies who alleged there was voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Dominion also filed a $1.3 billion lawsuit against attorney Sidney Powell.
In December, Dominion’s director of product strategy and security, Eric Coomer, filed suit in Colorado state court, alleging that he has been “baselessly accused of using his position to mastermind a high-tech plot to steal the election for President-elect Joe Biden.” Coomer accused former President Trump’s presidential campaign, Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani, lawyer Sidney Powell, Newsmax, One America News Network, OANN reporter Chanel Rion, Michelle Malkin, and others of civil conspiracy and the intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Dominion’s lawsuit is based on more than 50 statements made by Giuliani on social media, Fox News appearances, and appearances before legislative committees. The lawsuit notes that Giuliani did not make these claims in court, where he would have been privileged against being sued for defamation but would have risked bar discipline, including loss of his law license.
According to the lawsuit, “Notably, not a single one of the three complaints signed and filed by Giuliani and other attorneys for the Trump Campaign in the Pennsylvania action contained any allegations about Dominion.”
