‘Walt was a Republican’: Ted Cruz brings the fire after Seth Rogan starts a vicious fight over a Disney movie

Sen. Ted Cruz clapped back online at actor Seth Rogen with a fact check after the Canadian-born star tried to shame the Texas Republican over a tweet about a Walt Disney classic.

Cruz took to the social media platform to comment about “Fantasia,” a Disney flick he saw as a child he said frightened him, in response to a tweet from MGM Studios that asked: “What was the first film you saw in the theaters?”


“Fantasia. It was playing at a film revival. It scared me; I cried—I was 4. My Mom had to take me out. Good times,” Cruz wrote, prompting a response from Rogen, whose early hits include roles in “40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Knocked Up,” and voice roles in the “Kung Fu Panda” animated film series.

“Everyone who made that film would hate you,” Rogen wrote in reference to the animated 1940 film.

The actor’s response led to another from Cruz that including a baiting fact-check.

“They’re all dead. So I think we’re good. And Walt Disney was a Republican,” Cruz began. “Even though you behave online like a Marxist with Tourette’s (screaming “F U! F U!” is really, really clever), your movies are typically pretty funny. I’m sure you hate that I enjoy them.”

Rogen responded as well in a manner that Cruz essentially predicted.

Warning: Strong language

“All jokes aside, @tedcruz is a fascist piece of s**t,” the Canadian-born actor wrote.

His reference to fascism, however, earned him some responses as well.

“All jokes aside – you play the exact same dopey character in every single movie you’re in – and that dopey character is smarter than you in real life,” the Twitter user known as “Catturd” wrote.

“Can you even back up your argument?? Just repeating ‘you’re a fascist’ shows you have no intelligent thought or critical thinking skills,” added user McKayla J.

“The real shame in our country is that anyone takes anything celebrities say seriously. Parrots that repeat scripts aren’t bright just because they can regurgitate other peoples words..Fascists are locking people out of their own businesses and stifling free speech — > Dems,” wrote another user.

“No he’s not. actually what you and all you Hollywood folks try to do with your blacklisting, sh** talking and “lists” sorta resembles that word you throw around …” JS noted.

“Do you even know what a fascist is?” Asked user Nathan Mendenhall.

Others responded as well.

The exchange also led some users to mock Rogen for appearing to follow Cruz a little too closely as the hashtag #SethRogenlovesTedCruz (‘Rogan’ with an ‘a’ instead of an ‘e’) began trending on Sunday.

“Wait. You’re telling me that #SethRoganlovesTedCruz ?????  I would never have believed that,” a user noted.
