Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene follows through on impeachment push against President Biden

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made good on her promise to file articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden.

The freshman Georgia Republican followed up on the vow she made when the U.S. House voted last week to impeach former President Donald Trump for a second time. The outspoken Trump supporter confirmed the filing, made soon after Biden was inaugurated on Wednesday, on Twitter and in an official statement.

“I just filed articles of impeachment on President Joe Biden, we’ll see how this goes,” Greene said in a quick video message she posted Thursday.

Though her effort is likely to be dead on arrival in a now-Democrat-controlled Congress, the move once again shines a spotlight on the controversy surrounding Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his questionable overseas business dealings.

“President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the Presidency. His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama’s Vice President is lengthy and disturbing. President Biden has demonstrated that he will do whatever it takes to bail out his son, Hunter, and line his family’s pockets with cash from corrupt foreign energy companies,” Greene said in a statement.

“President Biden is even on tape admitting to a quid pro quo with the Ukrainian government threatening to withhold $1,000,000,000 in foreign aid if they did not do his bidding. President Biden residing in the White House is a threat to national security and he must be immediately impeached,” said the GOP congresswoman, whose Twitter account was temporarily blocked last weekend after she called out Georgia election officials.

Greene argued that the case against Biden “is vast and detailed,” accusing him of abusing his office when serving as vice president in the Obama administration by “enabling bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors, by allowing his son to influence the domestic policy of a foreign nation and accept various benefits—including financial compensation—from foreign nationals in exchange for certain favors.”

She noted that there is “clear and compelling” evidence of “widespread knowledge, corruption, and collusion on behalf of the Biden family with foreign nationals,” adding that Obama officials had verbalized their reservations about the younger Biden and that instances of corruption were “intentionally not investigated or covered up.”

“During his father’s vice presidency, Hunter Biden built many business relationships with foreign nationals and received millions of dollars from foreign sources, seemingly in exchange for access to his father. The financial transactions which Hunter engaged in illustrates serious counterintelligence and extortion concerns relating to Hunter Biden and his family,” Greene’s statement continued.

The lawmaker asserted that Biden “gravely endangered” national security and that through “blatant nepotism, he enabled his son to influence foreign policy and financially benefit as a result of his role as Vice President.”

The newly sworn-in president may come under more scrutiny for his soft approach to China as it becomes clear how his son has benefitted from lucrative business deals in the communist nation. Tony Bobulinski, a business partner of the younger Biden, came forward ahead of the 2020 election and revealed that Joe Biden was clearly involved in his son’s business deals.

Though mainstream media and technology companies did their part to provide cover, burying or dismissing the stories of the corrupt business dealings, the younger Biden did admit that he was under a federal investigation.

Greene has been unabashedly vocal about the new president’s ties to China, calling out “Grandpa” in a tweet on Wednesday: “Communist China has their President … China Joe.”

In an interview with conservative commentator and author, Dinesh D’Souza, Greene said it was “sickening” how levels of government can have so much corruption while small business owners in America work hard to play by the rules.

Greene insisted that her efforts are driven by a need to deliver for the American people.

“I am 100 percent for a public trial, so to speak, for President Joe Biden, where we can bring out the evidence and let the people be involved,” she said, saying the government has “grown into a disgusting swamp where nothing gets done and no one ever faces justice.”
