Tatiana Rita Turner, 40, is a Black Lives Matter activist and she is being charged with attempted murder after allegedly running over Trump supporters with her car last year. She is now facing additional charges in connection with a separate earlier incident where she beat two men with a steel rod.
Turner is a Long Beach organizer of a BLM rally that was staged against police brutality and racism. She is being charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon after a “months-long review of video evidence,” prosecutors said. She allegedly used a four-foot-long rod to “repeatedly” beat two men who were lying defenseless on the ground after they were attacked by a group of protesters during a demonstration in Seal Beach, CA last August, according to the release. The vicious assault left one of the victims with head injuries so severe they required staples. This occurred one month before Turner ran over Trump supporters in Yorba Linda.
Turner is also facing one felony count of using a stun gun on a person during a September “March 4 Equality” protest she helped organize in Yorba Linda, CA. During that same protest, according to prosecutors, Turner deliberately drove into a crowd of Trump supporters with the intent of killing a woman and seriously injuring a man who suffered a broken leg.
“She positioned her vehicle to be used as a backup weapon and she used that vehicle as a deadly weapon, willing to injure and kill those who stood in her way,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement last year.
One of Turner’s victims was identified Wednesday as Danielle Lindgren, 44. She was hospitalized for a number of months after Turner ran over her head during the September protest. Lindgren was charged in the incident with one misdemeanor count of possessing a baton as well.
Turner’s attorney is Ludlow Creary II. He justified the violence by arguing that Turner tried unsuccessfully to get help from deputies in Yorba Linda after her group was overwhelmed by a hostile crowd. He claimed Turner tried to get away and didn’t intend to hit anyone. Video footage seems to indicate otherwise.
Turner was originally charged with one felony count of attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation, six felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of mayhem, and two felony counts for using pepper spray in connection with the Yorba Linda protest.

She has previous felony convictions for selling drugs and domestic violence. This time she faces seven years to life plus 26 years in state prison if convicted on all charges. Naturally, she pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. Jail records show she is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
“We support the right to peacefully protest, but these are not peaceful protests. These are organized protests that encourage others to engage in civil disobedience and violence. We continue to review all surveillance footage to identify other suspects, regardless of what side of an issue they are on,” said Spitzer.
After reviewing videos from the events of that day in Yorba Linda, five more demonstrators have been charged, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office also announced.
