Gun control bills already in the works under Democrat House

Democrats are chomping at the bit with their newfound power to introduce more gun control legislation with the start of the Biden administration.

Several measures, some that are not even ready with any legislative text, are being prepared by Democrats as they position themselves to push through their gun control wish list with a Democratic president, and House majority, according to the news site Bearing Arms, which noted that “gun owners are in for dark days indeed” if the bills pass.

U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas and other Democrats have ramped up efforts to infringe on Americans’ Constitutional rights by sponsoring and co-sponsoring several bills that will affect how the Second Amendment is viewed and interpreted.

In the first days of 2021, Lee introduced H.R. 130 which seeks to “require the safe storage of firearms and ammunition, and to require the investigation of reports of improper storage of firearms or ammunition.”

The implications of investigating “reports” of those not abiding by the rules of proper storage are chilling.

Lee also introduced H.R. 127, a measure that looks “To provide for the licensing of firearm and ammunition possession and the registration of firearms, and to prohibit the possession of certain ammunition.”

According to Bearing Arms:

Note, well, Jackson-Lee not only wants you to have to register your firearms — not that they’d ever come confiscate them … comrade — but they want you to have to buy a federal license to buy or possess firearms or ammunition.

Any half-way intelligent student of the Constitution would see this is a prima facie violation of not just the Second, but also the 10th Amendment as this is properly a decision for the Several States — if the incoming regime cared a whit for such things as the Constitution in the first place.

But Lee was far from done on January 4 as she introduced the bills. The 71-year-old congresswoman who is now serving in her 14th term in the House, added H.R. 135 which requires an FBI report to Congress on firearms transfers.

The proposed legislation would “require the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to report to the Congress semiannually on the number of firearms transfers resulting from the failure to complete a background check within 3 business days, and the procedures followed after it is discovered that a firearm transfer has been made to a transferee who is ineligible to receive a firearm.”

The Texas Democrat, who last year called on Congress to pass a bill on paying black Americans reparations for slavery, also introduced H.R. 121, a bill seeking to hire “200 additional Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents and investigators to enforce gun laws.”

In a separate proposal by Lee’s Democrat colleague, Rep. Al Green of Texas, vendors at gun shows will have to be licensed as firearms dealers. Introduced by Green on the same day as Lee’s wish list proposals, H.R. 167 seeks “To prohibit the transfer of a firearm at a gun show by a person who is not a federally licensed firearms dealer.”

Rep. Bobby Rush of Illinois introduced H.R. 30, the Gun Trafficking Prohibition Act, during the same session. The measure has text already and is aimed at “increas(ing) public safety by punishing and deterring firearms trafficking.”
