Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) is still entangled in the Chinese honey-trap that allegedly snared him and which makes him a national security risk. The threat of Chinese espionage is growing at an alarming rate in the United States and is raising fresh questions about Swalwell’s tryst with a suspected Chinese spy.
Fox Nation is streaming a special on the Chinese threat called The China Showdown which also aired on the Fox News Channel on Sunday. In the segment, there will be renewed scrutiny on Swalwell’s connection to the Chinese Communist Party. There are many unanswered questions as Swalwell maintains access to the country’s most sensitive secrets. He is also one of the managers in the second impeachment of President Trump.
China analyst Gordon Chang pointed out that Swalwell’s failure to address his relationship with a woman named Fang Fang, aka Christine Fang, indicates that “China may still have leverage” over the Democratic lawmaker. A number of Republicans fear this to be the case.
“We need to know more, we need to hear him give a public accounting,” Chang told host Bill Hemmer. So far, Swalwell is mum on the subject and is allegedly avoiding the issue.
Former CIA station chief Dan Hoffman said that Fang specifically targeted Swalwell and other up-and-coming politicians to infiltrate the highest levels of power in the U.S. She was most likely looking for a politician with particular weaknesses that could be exploited in favor of the Chinese.
“Christine came to the United States in 2011, established what we call ‘cover’ by enrolling in California State University with an eye towards making contact with young but promising politicians, and she did that,” Hoffman told Fox Nation.
“She found that if she could be the person who could provide fundraising assistance, that she would be someone who is considered to be part of the inner circle, and of value, and trusted.”
And if she could get one of these politicians entangled in a relationship and exploit that, it would be even better. Not to mention the opportunity for blackmail.
Chang went on to warn that Fang “tried to infiltrate his campaign, influence him, [and] God knows, maybe she even corrupted him.”
Fang reportedly also had sexual interactions with at least two Midwestern mayors. The Chinese use honey-traps like this with great success.
As a result of Swalwell’s alleged indiscretions with Fang, his record on China has come under scrutiny. His record reveals a legislative history that does little to address the growing threat of the Communist regime.
“He would’ve had information showing that China’s a far greater risk than Russia, but as Swalwell has been in Congress, all he’s talked about is Russia, Russia, Russia, Trump Trump, Trump,” Chang said.
Our national security experts consider China to be the greatest threat to America in the world today.
Political consultant and writer Peter Schweizer nailed Swalwell and urged viewers to “ask yourself, is there a connection between the fact that he had this relationship with Miss Fang and that she has now been linked to Chinese intelligence and the fact that he does not want to talk about the Chinese intelligence threat?”
Schweizer also said that by “refusing to come clean about exactly what his relationship was, [Swalwell] has made the situation worse.”
“If they do, in fact, have compromising information on him in Beijing, it’s basically a ticking time bomb that they can use to deploy at any time to extract information or to gain information from him,” Schweitzer said.
It should be noted that Swalwell is joining the House Committee on Homeland Security amid this scandal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is responsible for putting him there. Swalwell announced his appointment to the sensitive post in a tweet on Friday afternoon.
“My committee memberships — along with my experience as a prosecutor and as the son and brother of law enforcement officers — will give me a unique opportunity to delve into one of America’s most serious national security threats,” Swalwell wrote.
Members of the committee are responsible for oversight of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the nation’s security legislation. Swalwell also still sits on the House Intelligence Committee.
