‘Wishful thinking’: Newt Gingrich throws cold water on delusional Dem predictions of GOP civil war

Newt Gingrich is putting on the brakes when it comes to left-wing writers who are excited over the prospect of a Republican civil war. He flatly states it will not happen.

Gingrich also says that nothing would make them happier than to see Republicans tearing each other apart in a fight over President Trump and the future of the GOP.

In an article posted to Fox News, Gingrich called those on the left self-delusional and that these anti-Trump forces are foolish to look at the House of Representatives vote on impeaching President Trump and then convince themselves this is the harbinger of a Republican civil war. He claims that is absurd.

Every Democrat voted for the second impeachment and only ten Republicans joined them. Those Republicans were only nominally conservative. The remaining 197 Republicans voted against the impeachment effort launched by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

Gingrich posited that a much more appropriate headline for the vote would read: “Overwhelming House Republican vote against impeachment with tiny faction in favor.” Instead, the Democrats are predicting that the GOP will rip itself apart and are gleeful about it.

Then Gingrich turned to John McLaughlin’s poll of voters in 17 swing states. McLaughlin discovered that in these battleground states, 80% of the Trump voters and 76% of all Republicans were less likely to vote for a member of Congress who voted to impeach President Trump.

Sixty percent of all voters evidently view the impeachment as a waste of time and money and 65% of all voters think the Democrats are “making this worse and keeping the country divided.”

Almost three-quarters of Americans polled felt that Democratic efforts to try to remove Trump after he has left office would be politically motivated to try to keep him from running again. And 48% of all voters polled said they were less likely to vote for a member of Congress who voted to impeach the president.

Gingrich echoes the sentiments of many on the right who feel the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol is being used as an excuse to try to destroy the conservative movement in America, but 74 million disaffected voters will not stand for that.

He pointed to the massive stock market losses for Twitter and Facebook after banning Trump and censoring Americans. Gingrich feels it is a severe financial risk and that it indicates Americans are not going to willingly be bullied and silenced. Conservative social media platforms will financially cripple Internet giants and cost their founders a lot of money. This will further tribalize society.

Gingrich believes it is likely that the 74 million-plus Americans who voted for Trump will learn to “adopt the cultural-social tools that the left has been using rather than surrender and submit to a tyranny of left-wing bullies.”

According to Gingrich, Marriott has cut off donations to pro-Trump Republicans which will spur 74 million Americans to book other accommodations when they travel.

He also said: “When Nike continues to use slave labor courtesy of the Chinese Communist dictatorship, it risks millions of Americans seeking an alternative shoe. When web-hosting platforms like Google, Amazon, and Apple conspire to apply ideological tests for the apps they carry, they may find they’ve created a niche for competition. The list goes on.”

Americans are no longer in doubt over the radicalization of the Democrats.

Gingrich went on to state:

“When Speaker Pelosi eliminated the House Republicans’ right to offer an amendment in the vote on House rules — on the first day of the new Congress — every Republican understood it as a declaration of war on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and the leadership team that gained seats in 2020 when it was supposed to lose them.”

“Pelosi and her left-wing allies know full well their power is tied to seven shaky seats. They also know that it is likely the Republicans will win the House in 2022. Their radical actions are in part a desperate effort to impose their ideology before they lose control,” he continued.

“When the House Democrats in their first vote on the House rules eliminate mother, father, brother, sister and more than two dozen gender-specific words from the House rules document, it is a sign of their commitment to a cultural radical left that does not represent most Americans,” he added.

Gingrich said the rift in the Republican Party will be replaced by anger at the Democrats as they try to “bully, ostracize, intimidate, and — if necessary — jail those Americans who refuse to go along with their ideologically driven reinterpretation of America.”

He also believes that there is no way that the Biden economy will come anywhere close to Trump’s.

Gingrich closed out with:

“Any thought of a Republican civil war will rapidly be replaced by a conservative and moderate revulsion against the Democratic Party’s drive to the left — and desperate efforts to rig the game so they can’t lose future elections (I’m referring to the Democrats’ H.R. 1 and the drive to make Washington, D.C. a state in order to gain two Democratic senators).”

“The supposed GOP civil war is wishful thinking by liberal elites in D.C. and the media — nothing more,” Gingrich concluded.

Most Republicans would agree with Gingrich’s statements. The GOP may fight among themselves, but they will find themselves united against the Democrats.
