An unneeded, politically correct analysis of Santa Claus and his reindeer set eyes rolling on social media.
It seems even on Christmas, the left can’t help but be “woke” enough to offer a twist on traditional themes and figures, analyzing the classic tale of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson delivered his take on how Rudolph and all of Santa’s reindeer have actually been “misgendered,” sparking a wave of commentary on Twitter.
“Santa doesn’t know Zoology,” the astronomer wrote on Christmas Eve.
“Both male & female Reindeer grow antlers. But all male Reindeer lose their antlers in the late fall, well-before Christmas,” he authoritatively added. “So, Santa’s reindeer, which all sport antlers, are therefore all female, which means Rudolf has been misgendered.”

Tyson’s deep thinking on fictional characters got its share of head-nodding by left-wing Twitter users. But the tweet also triggered the virtual sound of heads crashing to desks as many others, including Senator Ted Cruz, called out the 62-year-old astrophysicist for being such a Scrooge.
“Next you’re going to tell me he doesn’t fly all around the world in one night, come down all our chimneys, and leave presents for good little boys & girls,” the Texas Republican tweeted. “Bah humbug. A lump of coal for you.”
“Now explain Rudolph’s nose with “science” you leftist Christmas buzzkill,” commentator and TV host John Cardillo responded on Twitter.
Writer and podcast host Stephen Miller pointed out that Tyson was rehashing an observation he made five years ago.
