Georgia state Rep. David Clark told Republican Governor Brian Kemp it’s time he “step up” and show his support of President Donald Trump in his challenge of election results.
The GOP member of the Georgia House of Representatives told Kemp he can “no longer” be silent as the governor continues to refuse to call for a special session to address the state’s election results amid accusations of fraud and other failures in the system.
Kemp has raised the ire of the president who has lashed out at him in scathing comments for not doing more about the voting claims. The GOP governor has opposed calling a special session of the Georgia General Assembly to appoint new presidential electors and generally dismissed attacks from Trump.
The president has criticized Kemp and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and said in a tweet that he was “ashamed” that he endorsed the governor in 2018. The tension has increased with a short time left before two heated Senate runoff election in which Republican Sen. David Perdue faces Jon Ossoff and Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler faces Democratic Rev. Raphael Warnock.

Clark, who was re-elected last month to represent Georgia’s District 98, reminded Kemp in a series of tweets about his past support.
“No longer can I be silent, @BrianKempGA. I’ve been a strong ally, endorsed you in the runoff and chaired your ‘Veterans for Kemp’ during your gov. race. It’s time for you to be the man in the ad that said “I got a big truck…yep I said that” to step up for @realDonaldTrump,” he tweeted.

The U.S. Army veteran warned Kemp that he will end up being a one-term governor if he continues to ignore calls for action in support of the president.
“Georgia & America more than ever needs leaders who will stand for #ElectionIntegrity,” Clark wrote.
If you don’t take a stand and continue refusing to call for a special session, then I fear you will be a one term governor. Georgia & America more than ever needs leaders who will stand for #ElectionIntegrity.

“The people deserve for us to go through all the irregularities/allegations of fraud to make sure every vote was counted legally. We serve the people,” the congressman reminded Kemp in his tweet.

Earlier this year, Clark had introduced a resolution calling for Georgia House Speaker David Ralston to resign after alleged abuses of power.
“When you’re in a place of sacrifice where you’re not there to gain power for yourself, and you’re there to serve your country for a higher purpose, it changes you forever,” the military veteran told Atlanta magazine at the time. “Once you start living for power, you lose some of who you are as a human being.”

Meanwhile, Kemp has maintained that he is focused on the important Jan. 5 runoff elections which will determine who will secure control of the U.S. Senate.
“As far as me getting primaried, I could care less about that right now,” Kemp told Fox News, referring to attacks against him by Trump and other Republicans.
“The biggest thing we all need to do, regardless of what you think about what’s going on in Georgia, we’ve got to support David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler,” he said.
