Feinstein won’t commit to finishing term after hit piece claims memory loss is progressing

Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s mother clearly ain’t raise no punk.

Responding Friday to increased attacks against her from the left-wing media, which is now pushing for her resignation, the 28-year congressional veteran said no way.

Asked by CNN whether she intends to continue serving her full term til its expiration in 2025, she pithily said, “Well, if it changes, I’ll let you know.”

She was then asked whether she thinks she’s capable of doing her job, to which she replied by saying, “I do. I work hard. I have good staff. I think I am productive. And I represent the people of California as well as I possibly can.”

You go, girl!

The pushback comes as the left-wing media appear to be ramping up their efforts to rid themselves of relatively “moderate” Democrats like Feinstein.

In an over 1,500-word profile published Thursday, The New Yorker, a left-wing magazine, used anonymous sources to impugn Feinstein’s mental capabilities.

The piece claimed that “many” people “familiar with Feinstein’s situation describe her as seriously struggling, and say it has been evident for several years.”

“Speaking on background, and with respect for her accomplished career, they say her short-term memory has grown so poor that she often forgets she has been briefed on a topic, accusing her staff of failing to do so just after they have,” the piece read..

“They describe Feinstein as forgetting what she has said and getting upset when she can’t keep up. One aide to another senator described what he called a ‘Kabuki’ meeting in which Feinstein’s staff tried to steer her through a proposed piece of legislation that she protested was ‘just words’ which ‘make no sense.’”

Asked by CNN whether she found the article fair, Feinstein said, “No, not particularly. No one talked to me.”

It appears columnist Erika D. Smith didn’t talk to her either.

Also on Thursday, Smith, a columnist for the senator’s home paper, the Los Angeles Times, wrote a roughly 1,200-word piece urging her to resign so that California Gov. Gavin Newsom can replace her with a “black or Latino” and thus boost so-called “diversity.”

“Criticism of Feinstein has been escalating in recent months, especially from the progressive left after confirmation hearings of now-U.S. Supreme Court Justices Brett M. Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. Persistent questions about her mental acuity — particularly her short-term memory — haven’t helped, with staffers frequently having to clarify statements that Feinstein has made to reporters,” Smith opined.

“Given all of this, it would make perfect sense for Feinstein to be selfless and retire early with California’s gratitude for a distinguished career. Now is absolutely the time to be an ally to communities of color and let another younger lawmaker represent the evolving values of this state. For to adequately address the many long-standing, race-based disparities in everything from healthcare to housing, California needs a Black senator and a Latino senator.”

The piece basically called for Feinstein to sacrifice herself at the altar of left-wing-styled racial harmony and equality.

Many believe the true motivation behind this growing movement to push the senator out of office is her apparently appalling decision to hug a Republican.

After the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmed Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett to office in late October, Feinstein praised committee chair Lindsey Graham, a Republican, for a job well done and even offered him an endearing hug.

This simple, human show of respect and — dare one say — love triggered widespread rage from the “love trumps hate“-chanting left.

“The Democrats’ strategy [during the hearing] was to portray Barrett’s confirmation process as a travesty, jammed through the Senate in the final weeks before the Presidential election by hypocritical Republicans bent on using brute power to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with her ideological polar opposite,” The New Yorker’s piece complained.

“The Democrats sought to fire up their voters by highlighting the illegitimacy of the process. But, to the Democrats’ dismay, Feinstein instead hugged the Republican chairman of the committee, Lindsey Graham, thanking him for his ‘fairness’ and for running ‘one of the best set of hearings that I’ve participated in.'”

Following the piece’s publication, a number of prominent leftists — some of them members of the media, surprise, surprise — began calling for her resignation.
