Fox News host Sean Hannity suggested President Donald Trump should issue preemptive pardons for himself and his family if he will have to leave the White House in January.
During a talk with attorney Sidney Powell on his radio show this week, Hannity reacted to reports that a potential Joe Biden administration is already being urged to pursue investigation and prosecution of Trump for any criminal misconduct he may have engaged in while he was in office. The president should make an offensive move to protect himself if Democrats wish to continue their “witch hunt,” Hannity said Monday.
During a segment on Premiere Radio Networks’ “The Sean Hannity Show,” the host slammed the FBI investigation and the special counsel probe into alleged Russian election interference during Trump’s presidency, as the discussion turned to his recent pardon of retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security advisor and Powell’s client.
The attorney admitted that Trump’s full pardon of Flynn last month was “bittersweet,” noting that “not everybody can get a presidential pardon.”

“Well that’s a good point,” Hannity responded.
“I watched Andrew Weissmann come out and literally say, ‘Oh, Biden’s A.G. needs to go after Donald Trump,’ he added, referring to the former Justice Department deputy who suggested in a New York Times op-ed that the president should be investigated and prosecuted for any committed crimes once he leaves office.
“I’m like, the President out the door needs to pardon his whole family and himself because they want this witch-hunt to go on in perpetuity, they’re so full of rage and insanity against the President,” Hannity said.
“I assume the power of the pardon is absolute and that he should be able to pardon anybody that he wants to?” he asked.
“It is absolute it’s in the Constitution,” Powell replied
“I don’t know about his authority to pardon himself,” she added, but contended that the self-pardon “should not be necessary.”
The former federal prosecutor, who has filed a legal challenge to the presidential election results in Georgia, assured Hannity that Trump is “going to get another four years in office to finish the job he started.”
Although the president has not specifically said he is planning to pardon himself in the event he has to concede the election to Biden, the recent pardons he issued raised alarms by his critics that he would do so. Back in 2018, Trump even tweeted on the topic, asking why he would even need a pardon “when I have done nothing wrong.”
As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!

“A pardon is actually in effect an acknowledgment that wrongdoing or a chargeable crime has happened. So he wouldn’t just be looking guilty, he’d be acknowledging that he committed an offense,” CNN legal analyst Elliot Williams pointed out in an interview on the network last month.
The usual band of unnamed sources reportedly told NBC News that Trump was thinking of issuing pardons for his family members and close associates before his exit. Meanwhile, The New York Times reported on the discussions which were on whether the president would issue pre-emptive pardons for his three eldest children, Eric and Donald Jr., and White House advisor Ivanka Trump as well as son-in-law Jared Kushner, and attorney Rudy Giuliani.
Giuliani told NBC News that the claim was “a lie,” and that reports were “totally false.”
The president tweeted Tuesday in response to another report that federal investigators are investigating a potential “bribery-for-pardon” scheme.
