Newt Gingrich shreds Ga. Gov and Sec of State for being dominated, acting like ‘subsidiaries of Stacey Abrams’

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich believes Democrat Stacey Abrams deserves a “lot of credit” for the amount of control she appears to exert even over Republican leaders in Georgia.

The Fox News contributor slammed Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger as “subsidiaries of Stacey Abrams” on “Hannity” Monday as he spoke about the ongoing battle in Georgia where election votes were counted for the third time amid accusations by President Donald Trump’s campaign of voter fraud and discrepancies in the election results.

“The Georgia governor and Georgia secretary of state have been awful. They need to do more, like call a session of legislature, instill confidence in the voting process for Georgia. This impacts the whole country,” Fox News host Sean Hannity said Monday, adding that “serious questions need to be answered regarding ballot irregularities.”

“Ask yourself, why is it when Stacey Abrams, she didn’t concede the governor’s race from two years ago, the media lavishes her with nonstop praise, Democrats love her. If a Republican even questions any irregularity, it’s a ‘conspiracy theory,’ from the people who sold us the Russian hooker lie,” he added as he welcomed Gingrich. “This election is important but I don’t see any changes being made like, for example, on signature verification. Why is the governor and secretary of state not calling the legislature back?”

“I think you have to give Stacey Abrams a lot of credit. She dominates Governor Kemp. She dominates Secretary of State Raffensperger. In effect, they are subsidiaries of Stacey Abrams, they’re doing things that are outrageous and illegal,” Gingrich responded referring to the failed gubernatorial candidate.

“It’s clear the governor should be asking the state election board to bring Abrams in under oath and find out some of her claims. Some of her claims imply vote gathering, which is illegal in Georgia,” he added.

Gingrich called out the Georgia officials for using drop-off boxes for ballots and for changing the rules on absentee voting “which makes it impossible to find out whether or not the person voted who said they were voting, whether or not their signatures matched.”

“It’s truly been, to me, as a Republican, astounding to have a Republican governor and Republican secretary of state do such an extraordinarily bad job,” Gingrich said, before noting how Democratic Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, who are challenging incumbent Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, have “raised 80 percent of their money outside of Georgia.”

Raffensperger, who was being praised by Democrats in recent days for his criticism of Trump’s claims of election fraud in the state, said in a press conference Monday that the New Georgia Project, which was founded by Abrams, is one of four groups being probed for improper activities related to voter registrations.

The third-party voting groups, including the New Georgia Project which was reportedly led previously by Warnock, are under scrutiny for allegedly sending ballot applications to voters who are living outside of Georgia in an effort to get them registered to vote in the Senate runoff elections in January.

However, Gingrich thought Abrams will not be able to “steal enough votes” for the Democrats headed to January runoffs in the tight race that will determine which party will control the U.S. Senate.

“I think that, in the end, the Republicans will turn out. I think that the swing voters are going to look at how radical Warnock and Ossoff would be,” Gingrich told Hannity.

“And they will think about giving Biden control of the Senate to pack the Supreme Court, raise taxes, add the District of Columbia as a state. I think in the end they are going to vote against these two radicals,” he concluded. “But it’s truly a mess, and I frankly hold Governor Kemp and Secretary of State Raffensperger responsible for allowing this to develop.”
