Still deep into election challenges, President Donald Trump announced that he will be headed to Georgia to hold a campaign rally.
The event, which will reportedly be held on December 5, will not be on his own behalf, however, even as the state has certified the election for Democrat Joe Biden who supposedly beat him by 12,670 votes. The president is headed to the Peach State next Saturday to rally supporters behind U.S. Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue who are facing tight races in January runoffs.
After speaking with U.S. military leaders overseas on Thanksgiving Day, the president answered questions from reporters, at one point focusing on the battleground state of Georgia where he revealed he would be headed.
“So I’ll be going there Saturday night, and maybe I’ll go twice,” Trump said. “It’s very important that we win those races.”

“These are two great people, I know both very well,” Trump continued, praising the two Republican incumbents while denouncing their challengers.
The president called out Perdue’s Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff, who made an unsuccessful Congressional bid in 2017, a “lightweight” who “doesn’t deserve to be there.”
“The other one is either a communist or a socialist, I can’t figure that one out yet,” he said of Loeffler’s Democratic opponent, Raphael Warnock, the pastor of an Atlanta-based church who has come under scrutiny for controversial sermons.
“This is not for Georgia,” Trump continued in his remarks on Thursday. “I just want to tell my people, don’t be disappointed yet, because this race is far from over.”
While the president told reporters he was headed to Georgia for a rally on “Saturday night,” The White House later clarified that he had meant next Saturday, Dec. 5.
Loeffler shared a video clip of the president’s remarks about the rally on Twitter.
“I’m excited to welcome @realDonaldTrump back to Georgia next Saturday for a rally with @Perduesenate & me! We will ALWAYS have his back — and I’m so honored he has ours!” she wrote.
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham warned earlier this week that if Democrats secure victories in Georgia runoff elections it will mean a “trifecta from hell” in the U.S. government.
“If the president falls short and Biden gets to be president, you’re going to have Pelosi, Schumer, and Biden. That’s the trifecta from hell for big government. It’s a nightmare for conservatism. It’s the end of checks and balances,” the South Carolina Republican, who was just re-elected in a tough race, told Fox News.
“We need President Trump to go to Georgia because there are people in Georgia who voted for President Trump that believe in him more than the Republican Party,” he said. “I think that his voice could go a long way in helping us win these two Senate seats.”
In the tight Georgia races, as Loeffler and Purdue fight to hold their seats and help keep the Republicans in the majority in the U.S. Senate, some in the party advocated for a move to pressure the candidates to speak out more in defense of Trump and his challenge to the presidential election results in the state.
Attorney Lin Wood had also spoken out, suggesting voters in Georgia “threaten to withhold” their support of the Republican senators unless they openly spoke out. But the moves were slammed by many, including the president’s son Donald Trump Jr., as utter “nonsense” that will only play into the hands of Democrats who are pouring resources into the January runoffs to secure a victory.

During his time with reporters on Thanksgiving, the president indicated that he would concede and leave office if the Electoral College votes for Biden.
“Certainly I will. … You know that I will,” he said, but said there are a lot of things happening “between now and Jan. 20.”
“This has a long way to go,” Trump said. “This election was a fraud. It was a rigged election.”
