A New Jersey Democratic congressman leveled a series of accusations against President Donald Trump and demanded that he and members of his administration be investigated and “tried” after he leaves office.
U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell called for an investigation of members of the supposedly outgoing Trump administration, listing a number of “innumerable crimes” that the president has allegedly committed and should be held accountable for.
The 83-year-old Democrat, who was first elected in 1996 and was just re-elected to represent New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District, called for “the eventual prosecution” of the president and “his enablers” for the “many crimes” against the country in a tweet this week.
The outspoken Trump critic and chair of the House Ways and Means oversight subcommittee urged the U.S. Justice Department and others to take up the cause and follow through with investigations, trials and prosecutions.

“This is now the Left’s goal – throw President Trump, his administration officials, his family and his supporters in prison,” U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, a loyal Trump supporter, tweeted in response to Pascrell’s call to action.
“This is where we are now. Disgusting,” the Florida Republican added.

“Donald Trump and members of his administration has committed innumerable crimes against the United States,” Pascrell said Tuesday.
“He has endangered our national security. He ripped families apart. He poisoned the Census. He has personally profited from his office. He has attacked our elections and sought to throttle democracy. He was rightly impeached by the House of Representatives. He has engaged in treachery, in treason,” the New Jersey Democrat continued.
“He has all but given up on governing and protecting our nation and if he had a shred of dignity he would resign today,” he added.
“Therefore, in 2021 the entire Trump administration must be fully investigated by the Department of Justice and any other relevant offices. Donald Trump along with his worst enablers must be tried for their crimes against our nation and Constitution,” Pascrell, who has been waging an unsuccessful attempt to obtain Trump’s tax returns, declared.
He even argued that if the president seeks to use the “sacred pardon power,” it will be considered an “obstruction of justice. And any preemptive move by Trump to pardon himself would simply be “illegal,” according to the Democrat.
“Failure to hold financial and political wrongdoing accountable in the past has invited greater malfeasance by bad actors. A repeat of those failures in 2021 further emboldens criminality by our national leaders and continues America down the path of lawlessness and authoritarianism. There must be accountability,” he said.
Liberals applauded Pascrell’s radical call, setting off a wave of comments on social media where “lock her up,” the chant from 2016 referring to Hillary Clinton, began trending in response to the tweet from Gaetz.
I feel like there was an entire campaign where the candidate had his crowds chant “Lock her up” https://t.co/LGSCzqH8DZ

From the party that invented “lock her up” now triggered by Democrats calling for the criminal investigation of Trump an and his family for crimes: https://t.co/Gi4yVbCbRc

After more than 4 years of “Lock her Up!”, Republicans are butt hurt over the prospect of Trump and his Administration possibly having to answer for their actions. Cry me a river.

Meanwhile, others on Twitter appeared to find Pascrell’s idea nothing short of ridiculous.
By all means – let’s turn the power of the state against politicians as they leave office on a partisan basis. I can’t see any problem with that at all. pic.twitter.com/48lJgmMnPn

This too will fail, just like all the other attempts to smear the president and his family. Leftist gone wild.

What crimes? And be specific. Or is this more of the same bs from Democrats, who investigate and investigate and waste taxpayer money just to come up with nothing?

You’re literally complaining about yourself, not Trump. Look up transferrance. That’s the whole one-schtick playbook that is the Dem party.
