Republican voters are keeping a keen eye out for who is fighting for President Donald Trump as the election hangs in limbo.
With irregularities in vote counting, razor-thin margins in ballots cast for Trump and his Democratic rival Joe Biden, and a host of questionable activities in the election process, the president and his campaign team have gone on the offensive. But many of his supporters are wanting to know where Republicans have been in the battle as the deafening silence from many GOP leaders cannot be ignored.
Several prominent Republicans have begun to publicly speak in defense of the president, including a few on the 2024 shortlist of GOP hopefuls. But with the mainstream media all but handing Biden the presidency, Trump’s supporters are looking for Republican lawmakers to speak up now and counter the narrative.
GOP Senators Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Josh Hawley and Tom Cotton have spoken out in defense of the president as have House members including Reps. Matt Gaetz, Jody Hice, Paul Gosar and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Even Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones – a Democrat – came out with an impassioned defense of the president Thursday night.
Vernon Jones: “We are not going to stand for it, we are not going to back down. We are going to fight. This is a battle cry.”

At an Atlanta press event along with Donald Trump Jr. and Rep. Doug Collins, Jones vowed to fight for the president.
“Let me tell you, we’re not going to stand for that. We’re not going to back down. We’re going to fight,” Jones told a cheering crowd. “We don’t cut and run. We’re going to fight. This is a battle cry.”
“My point is, America—my point is, Georgia, that we believe in the process, but this process has been tainted,” Jones continued. “And if you taint it for one party, you taint it for the other party. And if you taint it for one American, then you taint it for all Americans. And we’re not going to stand for this.”
Jones fired up the crowd and had a special word for the media.
“I just want to say to the press so you can get the word out right now…we ain’t bullsh—ing,” he said, taking a direct shot at Stacey Abrams, the former minority leader of the state’s House of Representatives and failed 2018 Democratic gubernatorial nominee.
Collins, who addressed the crowd as well, tweeted that the fight was not over.
This is not over.
We will keep fighting.
Every LEGAL vote must be counted.

The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., spoke at the event and slammed the Republican Party “that hasn’t had a backbone.”
“You’re not going to see that this time around,” he said. “That party is gone and anyone that doesn’t fight like that should go with it.”
The president’s supporters have been paying attention to who in the GOP is willing to take the stand and back him in election battle.
We will remember & hold accountable those elected Republicans,
who do not fully support President Trump during this time.
Silence is consent.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz spoke out in defense of the president, joining Fox News’ Sean Hannity and reiterating that laws should be followed and that the Department of Justice should step up to enforce those laws. After many called him out for his silence, Sen. Lindsey Graham, who was just reelected in South Carolina, also appeared on “Hannity” and announced he was donating $500,000 to Trump’s legal defense fund.
Hawley tweeted about election integrity, and echoed the president’s remarks during an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Thursday.
If last 24 hrs have made anything clear, it’s that we need new election integrity laws NOW. Ban ballot harvesting, guarantee poll watcher access, make ballot counting transparent. I will introduce

Others also came out to publicly back the president, including newly elected North Carolina Representative-elect Madison Cawthorn.
This election isn’t over. I assure those of you in North Carolina, I will work diligently to ensure a fair and accurate count of the votes for our President. No one will steal this election from the American people. This is our fight, and the battle for America’s future rages on!

Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis has proven to be a vocal Trump supporter, and got a shout out from the president’s son who called out the “2024 GOP hopefuls.”
GOP voters are looking at how prominent GOP officials are behaving as Team Trump and his voters fight for the presidency. @GovRonDeSantis stands out as defending GOP voters in this fight. Who else has done good work?
— Mollie (@MZHemingway) November 5, 2020
One notable exception seems to be Ron DeSantis right now. He has been active and vocal. @RonDeSantisFL

Those 2024 hopefuls included Nikki Haley who did finally tweet a statement, though Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz was not impressed.
While some of us are fighting for President Trump…
Nikki Haley is eulogizing him.
— Matt Gaetz (@mattgaetz) November 5, 2020
Trump supporters on Twitter echoed the warning to Republicans.
If you are quiet right now we don’t want to hear from you in 2024. There will be receipts.
That’s it. That’s the tweet.
