Actress Kirstie Alley fired back at CNN after an insulting attack on Twitter by the network’s communications team in response to her earlier criticism of news coverage.
The vocal supporter of President Trump slammed CNN’s coverage of COVID-19 in a tweet on Friday, calling out the network’s doom and gloom reporting on the pandemic. Soon after Alley’s takedown, CNN shot back in a reply tweet.
“I now Know why my personal friends who walk around in SHEER TERROR of contracting Covid are simply CNN viewers!” Alley wrote on Twitter.
“I decided to watch CNN myself to get a their viewpoint and oh my God DID I EVER!!!! ” she added, continuing in all caps. “IF YOU TOO WANT TO LIVE IN TERROR WATCH CNN!! FEAR OF DYING IS THEIR MANTRA! OMG!”

Earlier in the month, Alley had publicly called out CNN’s Kaitlan Collins for her whining over the president taking off his face mask at the White House. The 69-year-old bluntly told Collins in a tweet, “You hate him. Just report that,” referring to Trump.
After slamming CNN’s coronavirus coverage, Alley was targeted by the official account for CNN Communications which insulted her with a jab at her work in “Veronica’s Closet,” an NBC sitcom that ran for three seasons from 1997 to 2000.
“Kirstie, you are welcome to change the channel – just like countless viewers did every time ‘Veronica’s Closet’ came on TV,” CNN wrote. “But don’t downplay the loss of nearly 230K American lives.”
In an added message, they reminded the actress to wear a mask.

Alley soon fired back at the CNN team, slamming the lack of negative coverage of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
“If only you paid as much attention to Joe Biden’s alleged corrupt business dealings as a TV show that was rated top ten in 1997,” Alley tweeted. “I guess you got that wrong too.”

Plenty of liberals on Twitter were ready to unload on the Emmy Award-winning actress, accusing her of downplaying the pandemic. But Alley proved she does not cower from the confrontations and strongly responded.
“Don’t misinterpret my objection to CHRONIC FEAR MONGERING, WITH ZERO NEW SOLUTIONS TO AVOID THE PLAGUE, as non empathetic,” she tweeted. “That’s a lie spread by Democrats who want to twist my words & make me seem unsympathetic. Chronic FEAR mongering doesn’t help ANYONE physically or mentally.”

But plenty of social media users sided with the actress, criticizing CNN for its childish response to being called out. Even Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida slammed the misinformation about Alley’s television show.
Veronica’s Closet had 35 million initial viewers.
About 10 million more than the Mueller testimony.
It ended its third season with 8 million viewers, down for sure.
But still about 8x the viewership of CNN’s top-rated show. https://t.co/T10zGqsKvA

“This is some grade-A juvenile stuff here, CNN. But this is also very on-brand of you. No class. No ethics. It’s all a game,” Newsbusters managing editor Curtis Houck tweeted.
